I'm really upset with my Instagram account

I've got an Instagram account that sells fashion product.

It has:
- 16k followers, around 13k ghosts (haven't interacted with me for 180 days)

I get 30-60 likes per post, and comments are very rare, most of times I get no comments at all.

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or maybe it's just people that aren't interested in my products.
What should I do to increase engagement?

I've seen competitors that have only 3k followers getting 100 likes and 10 comments per post.

Were these 13K ghosts followers bought? However you are gaining your followers in the past, change it up.

You say you have an Instagram account that sells fashion products. Maybe your followers have also noticed that all you do is sell. Have you considered mixing in some posts that have no commercial intent and are just meant to engage your audience directly?

How did you get these followers?

It's my mothers accounts, I can't tell if she bought in the past, someone was taking care of it for her.
Removing ghosts followers would do any good?
My current method is follow/unfollow people.

I haven't thought about it, I'll try this approach.

Use proper hashtags, post 3-4 times a day, and engage in the comments as much as possible. Start posting some cool pictures with a nice description or story that could go along with it. Keep following and unfollowing users as you are doing now. Concentrate on building a relationship and avoid promoting products until you build a bigger active following. You don't want to give your audience the impression that the account was created for the sake of shoving products down their throats.

Don't bother removing them. Interact with your old/new followers and eventually your active followers will exceed your ghosts and will help your acc look more real.

Well from similar experiences, you may need to start over. They are probably mostly ghosts and my 200 follower personal account gets more likes than your 16k. You should give yourself shoutouts and milk as many actives as you can onto a new acc. There's a ton of methods on here and you could possibly get back to 16k in no time. Good Luck OP!

@OP, get a bot and start another account. No need to delete your main account though.

You can honestly get 10k+ followers within 1-3 months if you work hard and follow the tips that people share here on bhw.

Even your competitors with 3k followers and 100 likes per post have a terrible engagement rate. I always wonder what the point of having so many followers is if they're not engaged. Rather then just simply following, perhaps change the hashtags you're targeting, and start liking your followers content. When they notice you're engaged in them, they will click through and engage with you more, at least that's what I think one of the contributing factors to my 20% engagement rate is.

That account has a lot of fake followers(purchased) is all. for 60-100 likes.. you have no more than 1,000 - 2,000 real.

someone should make something to get rid of these fakes or at least filter them....

I wish there was a way to buy active followers, "HQ" followers just seems to be unbannable accounts
