I'm new to the Twitter game, need some help.

I just started Twitter after avoiding it for so long. I started because it seems like a really powerful social networking tool that can get my website out there to more people.

My question is, is the following/follower ratio important at all? Should I follow back my supporters, or is it not required. And by required, I mean will it affect anything in regards to SEO?

Obviously an account with more followers than following appears more powerful and successful but following back to get going won't harm your business too much I wouldn't think. Also, buying followers is good to impress people with your follower count, but you will get 0 follower interaction as most payed for followers are actually fake accounts.
However, a few thousand fake followers to get the ball rolling may encourage other legit accounts to follow.

Looking like a celebrity with many followers and a few friends usually means more people will follow you just to be with "the crowd". Buying followers won't help much like Alastiar131 said other than influencing others to follow you. Good targeted followers are much like a mailing list that you can market to imo

I would think having a huge list of followers without the engagement and interaction to back it up would raise some flags.
It's the sharing that are the social signals I thought Google was paying attention to

Twitter is useless unless you have loyal followers. Try to promote viral news flashes and that may get you some followers. Try going to twiends and getting some followers. You can also get some retweets form socialmediaexplode..

The follower/following ratio isnt important but it looks good & people usually trust you more if you have more followers.

Ordering from fiverr usually can get your account banned.
