The forums are too huge and are filled with good knowledge. The SEO section is equally vast in scope, and you'll need to focus on very select topics to build your knowledge base. Build it up gradually but completely, although
completely is a relative word, because the topics each are so overwhelmingly huge, and almost limitless on how you can use, twist, turn, invent better strategies. But all that comes with proper focus and training oneself, and with time.
Don't rush. Pick up one topic and learn it, and take actions to see how they can be used for better results. Small topics can be taken in bunches along with some selected bigger ones. BHW forums can guide you well, and also there are sites like Youtube, Tutsplus etc that can guide visually. There is of course plenty of fluff and rags that are totally useless, but there are diamonds too and many are freely available.
There is plenty of scope and lots of opportunities for a good SEO newbie/learner. Give the topic the necessary time and stick to both (learning the topic and giving it the time).
