I just got involved with a home business and I am redoing my current website. What is it that I need to get my site indexed, and have it ranked high in search engines?

What are the steps?

Thank you,

Matt

Search this forum.
Thats gotta be the best answer i could give.
Every answer you could want is here.

go to http://socialmarker.com and download their free semi automatic bookmarking program, join all of the social website listed in it then go bookmark your own url not only will you get indexed inside two days you'll also get some traffic.

Go through the posts in the forum (Warning: it's very likely that you will be overloaded with the info that you get here. So stick to a few methods that you like.)

@nicho

thanks for the tips. this is really great. your such a good contributer.

i didn't see the software now. where is it?

First of all you need to sign up with googles webmaters tool. Next thing you need to do is to generate lots of backlinks, but most importantly remember to put in great content.

Ooh one more thing, always change your page every now and than in order to keep your website fresh.

Use high PR resources like social bookmarking sites and stuff like hubpages, qassia, and yahoo answers if you need an invite to qassia PM me posting on these sites get my sites indexed fairly fast. When you are indexed you can focus on other stuff.

You should watch the complete Stomper Net DVD series that is available from torrents now. if you look around the site you might find the link, also. You will learn (step by step) like 40 hours from two guys who have #1 ranking sites for moderately competitive search terms in a couple of niches. the original stomper seminar and series cost upwards of $10,000 if i am not mistaking? worth the download and watch, anyway :)

Without meaning to sound clever this is the most common 'how long is a piece of string' style question that comes up for online promotion.

While most things will be common to most situations where you should be focusing right now will depend on the attributes of your site, its history, the market and by that primarily I refer to your competitors.

Also are you trying to dominate for some search phrases?
Are you trying to come first for one broad match term?

You mention you want to get indexed.

In this case it would be best to focus on the sites which G00gle's Spiders are all over and formulate a linking strategy that will get you noticed most rapidly.

Video would augment this greatly, I have seen videos appear for certain search terms within 4 minutes of being mass uploaded to free video upload sites. If these videos reference your site then this is only a good thing.
