I'm looking for ABSOLUTE Anonymity, will this help at all?

I'm a noob when it comes to this but I need absolute, ninja stealth anonymity for my online activities. Does using Tor and then connecting through a private proxy make a difference to the exit node that I use and offer me more protection? or is this completely pointless.

Secondly, is it worth using a linux based set up instead and if so can anyone offer me any further tips, they'd be mucho appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I suggest you have a look at this:

tailsXboumXorg

(replace X with .)

It's a linux distro which you can boot from a pen and routes all your internet traffic through tor.
there are some other alternatives so you should "shop around" to see if any of these suit you better.

As to connecting through tor and a private proxy, if you connect to the proxy AFTER the TOR network, you are just making
it harder for yourself, and risking revealing you identity, unless you can buy the proxy anonimously.

Routing your traffic through the proxy and then through the TOR network makes a little more sense to me. At least it you're
worried about someone seeing that your computer is sending traffic to a TOR entry node. But if that's not a problem the reasoning above also applies here: if the proxy can't be linked to you personally it might be a good idea, if you are buying it with your personal data then it's the same a connecting
directly to TOR.

Thanks Rydberg I shall certainly give that a try as I'd p[eviously heard of tails but wasn't sure if it was really very effective. And yes, I would be looking to go through a proxy then connect through Tor. Thanks guys.
 
The only way to get absolute anonymity would be to shut off your computer and unplug it ;)

There was a guy that set some building on fire and filmed it, then he was stupid enough to upload the video. He (most likely) used tor since the cops had to trace the traffic through several countries with the help of the local authorities and they caught the guy in less than two weeks.

If someone is really determined to find you, they most likely will
 
There is nothing anonymous ( really ) , well you could try some premium VPN services
 
Answer to OPs question - yes it will help with anonymity.

On the topic, if you wish to reach the level of anonymity you describe, be ready to spend millions, travel at nigh, buy disposable one time laptops from shady dealers, etc.
So if you are planing to do something criminal on a small scale, don't, it will only end one way.
If you are just planing to game CPA networks or stuff like that, most private proxies will do, even some vpn's might work
 
You dont need to buy multiple laptops, just get a badass one with 32GB of ram.

1.Create a ramdisk
2. Download a good encrypted VPN source, and install it to the ramdisk and make sure its cache goes there
3. Install VirtualBox in the ramdisk and a slimed down version of windows xp with its harddrive partition in the ramdisk
4. Install Tor inside the windows xp
5. Do not use it yet, make a boot up iso for the ramdisk and save it in an SSD, do not make additional saves. This step is just to save massive amounts of time reinstalling everything.

You are now totally anonymous depending on how you setup tor and what vpn you use.
 
Thanks Roparadise, this is a great idea, I was wondering about using a VM but wasn't sure how this would be effective your ideas have certainly made it clearer. A VM with the linux Tails thing mentioned earlier might be even more solid than TOR, also doing all this through a wi-fi connection might further help things. To those interested, it's not to conduct anything illegal, it's part of a friends documentary on remaining hidden in the digital age. He is getting 3 people, myself included to go around Europe as anonymously as possible while he hires a PI to try and track us down. The results should be interesting, for anyone interested I will post a link to the finished documentary here when it's done but it won't be finished until the end of the year at the earliest I'd imagine.
 
Then a simple vpn such as HMA would do and nothing else is needed. The PI will not be able to get a court order to get records from HMA.
 
Ive tried a couple of things, vms,.vpn, vps, all with faked info.. not t0o hard, .. tor. and tails.. but a quick way with little investment if you need to move discreet is used netbook (cash) and a tmobile broadband usb dongle and you can buy the cards cash at walgreens or wherever, doesnt need any real info for tmobile, OR you can get prepaid android phone and tor on android and prepaid cards for the android, dont use the phone only talk on gibberbot and tormail.. ive already said too much..

There is, it just depends on what your doing and what you do to protect your privacy.

1. Using a virtualbox installed on a ramdisk with the OS parition on it, prevents any data from being recorded to your harddrive, once you turn your pc off the data is gone
2. Using a VPN service that doesn't keep logs and encrypts your data
3. Routing TOR traffic with the tor browser inside the virtualOS further encrypts and routes your traffic around the world
4. Using someone elses wifi for the initial connection to internet gets it tied to another location.
5. Using a mac spoofer prevents the persons or businesses wifi router from getting the real mac info.

And if your mobile such as moving around every week, it basically gives you total anonymity as long as your not involved in Child Porn,Global Terrorism, or Large Financial Scams.
