I'm just getting started in SEO, where do I begin ?

I am working in webdovelopment. i want to start seo also. so where is i do begin seo....

Search engine optimization is a very big world and there are many things to learn however the best place to start would be with target keywords for your website. Choose the keywords and their variations that you want to include so searchers can find your content.

It would also be wise to follow industry leaders in SEO to help guide you to good information on the subject. A simple and well explained SEO Guide... Hope this is where you can start your SEO Journey.

SEO is divided into two namely ON and OFF Site SEO.

1. The on site has to do with the optimization of the titles, descriptions, tags, image and content. On site SEO tells the search engine what a target page is trying to rank for.

2. Off site SEO is about back links. The search engine uses back link popularity to know where to rank a site in their SERP.

Off site SEO is really broad and can not be learnt in one sitting.

It's mainly about interlinking to quality sites and using your anchor text and what not.

I suggest you find an ebook about back linking from Google and go through it.

read seomoz and searchengineland. Both are great resources.

A recently published book might be useful to start with, however Internet is the best place to keep up to date with best practices in SEO as it changes quite rapidly. By the time a book is written and come out of the print, the written techniques might not be very effective!

Are you providing services or are you trying to get started for your own website?

If you want to learn SEO then start with Google's starter guide and SEOmoz.they gives you best knowledge about what SEO really is.

I started with Seomoz and it is clean and simple without complex words for beginners.

First of all learn the basics of SEO, to get information about the same, type keyword as "SEO for Dummies". Learn onsite and offsite techniques that should make you a SEO expert.

If you offer web development services and want to offer SEO without having to go through the process of learning it (time consuming) you can outsource it, a google search for 'SEO Outsourcing' will bring up a lot of companies that offer white label solutions, essentially you pass the SEO work on to them, they carry it out, and you bill your client. The outsourcing company obviously gives you a cheaper rate than a normal client would get and you in turn can charge your client whatever you like.

Really seomoz is best for any seo learner. i used this site for learning seo.

first of all do onpage seo after that offpage seo.
always remember one thing- excess of off-page seo is dangerous for your website.excess show only one time benefit after that nothing. so do off-page in proper manner/limit.
always use fresh content not copied.

as you are a devolper you will know much about onpage seo, for off page seo build power full link wheels....
