I'm in the Amazon queue

Launched my new affiliate site and got 3 qualifying orders so they will auto review my site now. I contacted support via chat and the girl said I am in the queue to be reviewed 'this week' for acceptance (or not) into the program. She said if there is anything wrong with the site, I will be rejected and I can reapply.

I had her look at my site and she said 'as long as you're not violating the terms of agreement...blah blah you'll be accepted.' Usual garbage run-around bs answer.

Wish me luck in this venture! I feel like I'm walking on pins and needles after reading all the horror stories about being banned and confusion surrounding the various reasons.

Few time ago my website has been approved without any problem. I thought about all that stories too. But but everything went well.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I'm anxiously awaiting the email as I've put in a huge amount of time building my site with custom content, and nothing scraped. Cheers.

- Lack of content which is original to your site and beneficial to your visitors
- Pages that are mainly empty when advertisement content is removed

Its complete bullshit. I have a single small ad in right column. I have five blog posts of 1000 completely original words. And I have over 300 products highlighted all wirh short but original ‘highlight’ descriptions. Fcking gutted after putting so much effort already.

So am i to assume this style of website is no longer acceptable even though there are 20 others just like it?

And of course, my amazon login is now gone. Sales are gone. Which means all my tags have to be replaced. So frustrated right now. (

You need to make a lot of changes to site to get accepted again.

Yes, that much is clear. It's still completely bullshit as I copied the exact business model of the biggest sites, and wrote every single word on my site for over 300 products + another 60 or so in the blog section that I covered. Not a single copied word. 100% original.

They sent the email at 2am, EST. So you can imagine I didn't sleep much. I have reformulated my content strategy plan and will be giving this one more shot.

Wonder what they need, maybe a few 5000-word buyers guides can do get you accepted.

Don't rush, add more content, get visitors then send request again.

They sent the email at 2am EST, tells me they're probably too scared to send during the day with all the crazies out there. Bastards. Equally frustrating is there is vague replies with no such words as 'we require at least 10 articles of 1000 words, etc.).

Since I didn't sleep, I decided to reformulate my plan and will attack this from an entirely different angle with all new content strategy. Clearly the content model used by many existing affiliate websites is no longer acceptable for their program.

Would like to say thanks for all support from everyone around here and suggestions. I'm encouraged by those who say to never give up and to keep going forward. Really encouraging and I appreciate that. Some really great minds around this place willing to help and I've learned a lot so far, although apparently not enough. Back to the (insert curse word of choice here) drawing board on this affiliate thing.

so you make a site with 5 1000 words articles and put 300 products with 3/4 lines of description.

This is something unique. usually niche sites are REVIEW based sites.

I did highlight products from other non-amazon companies I'm on affiliate programs for through shareasale, etc. which I am approved for. It was about 70% amazon, 30% non-amazon.

I did not have any ads from other companies. I only had one ad on home page which linked to an amazon page, and one small ad on side-bar column for post pages, which linked to another amazon page.

seoz, yes, it was a two-fold idea. One part of the site highlights product quickly. Sort of a quick-and-dirty posting area, (although ultra clean layout, ultra clean original writing, ultra clean images). The other section is the blog which are 1000+ word reviews of products (niche), although I can now see 5 articles is nowhere near enough content for them to approve, and neither is 1000 words per article. I'm guessing they want to see a minimum of 2000 word articles, and probably a minimum of 10-15 articles.

As I've said though, the truly frustrating thing is they don't tell you exactly what's required. It's all a complete clusterfuck guessing game. So you could spend all this time/effort building something, and then still get denied because they are the king of ambiguity. But I will completely revamp my strategy and toss much of what I've already done. Just pisses me off I wasted so much time when I worked so hard, laid out what I thought was a good strategy, and went for it day and night with much effort and no quit.

This is probably a blessing in disguise. I can't say for certain, but having been an Amazon affiliate for quite a few years, I believe they're currently skimming on a massive scale from associates.

Check out the threads linked in that thread also, it's not just me experiencing this. My advice would be to focus elsewhere because this may not improve and ATM it's pennies for the amount of business I send Amazon's way.

This is saddest story I've hear today. I still wondering why 100% writing product description in 300 pages still not get you approved.

Give your site some overhaul and try again. Sometimes, it's about your application reaching the right guy and not someone who just divorced his wife.

I applied to 6 other affiliate programs and all accepted me. But not amazon.

So i pressed amazon and more 2am emails came. This time, they restated the ‘original content’ problem again, but added also ‘not enough social media followers’ which they never mentioned before. Wtf? Yes i have very few followers but thats because i just launched.

I pressed further and sent 4 links to long running ultra successful affiliate sites. The guy wrote back again and said they want to see me offer something no other site is offering in terms of content to ‘give my users a unique experience’. So they can fuck off with their bullshit. So it appears at least with this person, that if you just straight up copy the biz model of another successful site, you'll be banned, unless you are generating a lot of traffic already.

The problem with this of course is let's say you launch with affiliate links and you get three sales right off the bat. They'll auto review your site and if you have hardly any content, you're fvked. But if you link to Amazon without affiliate tags, and trying to build up a ton of traffic before applying to the affiliate program, then of course you're missing out on lots of potential earnings. Seems like an egg chicken sort of thing.

So the only real way seems to be to just build some popular site by whatever means of content (no pron of course), and then later down the road, figure out how you can implement lots of Amazon products into your site model. Or you go the other route and write 7,000 word articles on reviews and all that type of crap which there are 10000's of sites that already do and hope you get approved and don't miss out on too many sales because you waited until you had lots of articles and traffic before applying.
