Im I getting close to needing a VPS?

Im currently using the Baby plan on Hostgator,and in the past few days my traffic has exploded. Yesterday my site used 38GB of Bandwidth,and so far today I've used 20GB. Should I upgrade to a VPS soon?

Not necessarily. Depends on what type of site you have. If its just a blog or something then increased bandwidth usage does not immediately mean increased usage of resources. Afterall they do advertise unlimited bandwidth. So go ahead and run with it.

On the other hand if you have a resource intensive website, and notice any slowdowns with your site then you may want to investigate a vps.

Im running a image hosting site, I checked my stats in cpanel,and although Im using a ton of bandwidth, Im not using the cpu or memory much.

for image hosting I think you should go for VPS

If you are running a image hosting site then you definitely need a VPS along with some extra bandwidth, checkout my signature for awesome hosting plans. I have official BST threads which you could look at.

I would def make the switch soon since your using so much bandwidth with images. you don't want to hit that day then hostgator starts to limit you. take preventative action!

Since you are running an image hosting site , you should consider getting a cdn move than a vps -- amazon ,netdna are a couple of good ones that i have used in the past ...

I'm going to try to limit the amount of large gifs that I uploaded. I uploaded a few 11mb gifs that got alot of views(around 7500 to 14000 each).

If you are a great Linux User and Fan, There are many plans about 5/month for Linux Operating System only. That's about average price for shared hosting.

yeah, you should get a VPS, they may tell you to upgrade soon anyway
