I'd like to point out that just because it's a writing-styled contest, it doesn't mean you have to pick out the Charles Dickens of the group. It just means that it would give you a chance to explain why you think you deserve it, just like a lot of people are already doing in this thread. :o

There's really only two ways to do it that I can see : a competition in which people take what they've learned and apply it (would require a lot of effort on BassTrackerBoats' part to keep up with and judge to make sure no one is cheating), or just writing to him and explaining your situation and why you feel applicable.

Beyond that, there's always the option of having a type of roulette and just leaving it to chance!

Either way, I'm subscribing to this thread and I'm really excited to see where it goes!

I am really interested to see how well you can rank the site with only using linkpushing. So far my sites are responding with the service, but slowly. It's a great case study to promote your service!

I have definitely worked hard since I started about a year ago. I write all my own articles, trying to do everything honestly and white hat. I don't put out sites very quickly though because of that, but I hope it pays off in the long run. I've made some mistakes, bad keywords, targeting wrong keywords, etc. And where many would have given up, I just keep going. I haven't made much at all yet, but I hope that changes soon.

This is an amazing offer, I do hope you would accept me into the running to get it. I am working ever so hard to get my site ranking for a relatively low competition keyword but i just can't seem to get it to. Whoever you choose is a lucky guy and big kudos to you!

The person who is going to get the site is going to be very lucky, because he/she is going to learn a lot of important things:

1. Proper keyword research. If you know the website you know what keyword is being targeted. Pop it in google kw tool and absorb the data. Pop it in to Scrapebox Wonderwheel scraper and find many similar keywords that could help you build a authority website in that niche.

2.Competition analysis. Looking at the top 10 competitors and figuring out how difficult is a crucial step in developing a website. You have to check the PR of the competitors, the number of inbound links( and PR of the links), look at their domain age and other small factors that influence their ranking. Understanding why Greg choose to build the website when there where X competitors is going to be a great opportunity.

3.Link building(Obviously :D). Everybody knows what a linkwheel is, but building a good one with proper linking is something that takes time to master. You can't just throw links at your site and expect it to rank in one week. Patience and quality backlinks(good pr or surrounded by LSI keywords) are one way to top rankings, Greg could easily teach him/her more.

5. Small things. Picking Greg's brain would be a real mind oppener to all the struggling marketers.

That's all about learning, now let's talk money :). If the search volume is 6600, that should bring the website about ~150 visitors/day (no.1 in the SERPS gets 45% of the traffic), considering a CTR of 5%, we will have ~7 clicks per day. 7clicks/day*6.27$(advertisers get 75%)=43$/day :target:
As for me....I'm struggling to rank a site in the technology niche. Google likes to dance a lot. I'm building linkwheels, submitting articles(AMR :rock:) and a lot of scrapebox comments. My mistake was that I tried to build a site similar to one which was being sold on Flippa. There are a lot of competitors...A LOT!

I am interested as to why you chose to use the .biz instead of the .org. Is it simply because it is a business related website?

And I liked a previous suggestion of some sort of competition that involves not a lot of skill, but can be accomplished mostly through determination and hard work. This would require a lot less effort on your part than if you were to offer people the opportunity to write an essay or something to convince you they should get the site.

BTB cool idea, a journal and a competition :) hard to pick a winner though, people playing on emotions etc. If it was me it would be name from a (black) hat.
 
Thus far the site has 4 articles on it and the only thing I did outside of the site was to submit it to folkd. It's Saturday, the weather is perfect and I had a bunch of yard work I wanted to get done.

Tomorrow it is supposed to rain cats and dogs so I'll probably add another article and start the first linkpush to it.

That's only for 1 keyword... those of you that know me know that I like to rank sites for a variety of ancillary keywords as well in order to take advantage of the crossover traffic that is out there looking to click on adsense ads, buy CB/CJ/Amazon products etc.

Well thought out post though, ovidius... your post alone is worth the price of admission for all of us.

My biggest problems are #1 & #2, I have no idea how to pick niches and have picked some very tough niches to tackle that don't make me money and they require a ton of work, like writing articles. I'm writing anywhere from 15 - 30 high quality unique articles a week and that doesn't include the articles I write for my link pushes and the time it takes to spin them and other SEO stuff.

#3, I think I'm good with that. #4, you skipped and #5, I've already been doing for a while ;)

LOL Wow, I read that post several times and didn't notice the lack of #4. :o

That's a lot of article writing. Greatest respect to you! I struggle doing just a few per day. If you're writing so many unique articles yourself, did you pick your niche because you knew a lot about it already or are you doing all the research and everything from scratch too? I also have a hard time picking niches and am in a tough niche--largely because it's something I can actually earnestly talk about.

I would call my sites more like news sites, with each targeting different niches. We don't sell anything, just provide information for people and if they click the one or two Google Adsense ads, we're grateful, if not, no big deal.

The reason I picked those site is because the stuff I talk about is the stuff I really like so why not make some blogs around them.

I also forgot to mention I write guest posts for some sites too, haven't done it in a while because of lack of time. Greg's site would be perfect for me because I went to school for finance/accounting ;) which I can't find a job in :(

Ive created 4 Micro niche sites the last 3 weeks, which are slowly going up the rankings, but I write articles, try to create backlinks in article directories, forum profiles,etc, Im not sure if what im doing is right. If I had your site i would copy it, becausae im a bit uncomfortable with my adsense niche themes, and replicate it with new sites. Ive made maybe #1 so far with these sites, the best so far ranking no.30 in big G.
Ive actually got a great uk domain name that has huge cpc , that i could use with this with adding something like another 10 hgh paying keywords, but im not going to star that project until I know that im doing things right.
