I'm getting traffic to my forum, around 100 or so a day. I'm just not getting anybody to sign up/become a member. I'ts really annoying me. I only have 16 members on my forum. Can anybody help me raise my conversion rate?

Post some real interesting content or a thread.
Lock it. I mean only registered can view it.

Sit back and relax!

Starting a forum is really difficult.. A lot of people don't know what to do.. It's hard to get people to post new threads.

Trust me I know from experience.

You Need way more traffic, and should offer something to join...........

Flex,

I agree, offer something for the first "x" amount of people that sign up. I have also heard of people having success by paying people to create useful threads as members and posting them or acting as an authority on the forum to answer questions. People have to have a reason to go to a forum and typically that reason is because there is a community on a forum that helps them accomplish their goals or otherwise provides useful content. If they can't find those things, they don't want to sign up.

Maybe you can find some ideas here,

Hope that helps,

How are you gaining the traffic in the first place. I run a forum that has over 3 members in the first week - I would say half of them are active as well - interested in the type of traffic your brining.

Well, my forum is about electro music and dubstep so there really isn't any thing i can do to make/ give people an incentive to join. Unless you can think of anything?

So can anybody help me with the forum? Mostly just need help with tips on promotion.

I am no forum expert, but I agree with what others have said above. You need to somehow show some 'value' in your forum, perhaps some exclusive shares, contents or tutorials. Then you need to think again, how you can get them return for more or leave replies/comments, so some engagement go on. Otherwise, it will be dead again.

I can imagine it is quite hard. Just look at how many 'internet marketing' forums out there. A lot of them didn't even get pass the launch phase. Then there are a lot that were once shown a little success, and quickly dropped due to inconsistency of content or engagement.

I agree with many of the suggesters above but I also like how this actual forums does it.

The first page is content (teasers) that can be seen by visitors. However, if you want to see parts of the forum (e.g. blackhat seo, whitehat, making money) you have to be signed up.

There are many techniques in building a forum but from experience, it takes a lot of time, brains, and patience when building up a forum.

Well this is a black hat forum, so here's a black hat tip for you:

Most people would not join a new, relatively empty forum, when there are many other more active forums around. So you need to get your forum to look active.
To do that, there are a few tools that scrape posts from other forums and add them to your forum. That way, you do not start with an empty forum.
Just an idea...

Thanks for the help guys!

I think I may try to find a tool that scrapes posts and I can post it on my forum.

Can I use scrape box to do that?
