Hi guys

I'm considering starting IM full time and getting rid of my job. Here is a little of background -

I have a big website (health/fitness niche) that gets between 20k and 30k of pageviews daily (about 30% of the traffic is direct, 30% social, 20% g00gle and 10% referral) and I am already doing 3-5K/month combined from adsense and CB (adsense being the bigger earner)

I also have a job making me less money than the website, but is really demanding and I'm spending 8-10 hours at it.

Like I said I would like to go IM full time, simply because doing both things is getting really exhausting for me. The only thing that scares me is that I don't know how stable this whole thing with adsense is, it can go away in seconds.

That's why I wanted to ask if there is a better way to monetize the site ( i've heard about sites with 1/3 of my traffic promoting cpa offers and earning X2 than I am). I've already started to collect emails and have around 8K of emails in my list.

I know there are some real IM experts here so I wanted to ask if you guys can provide some help/advice/experience on this subject.

Firstly, congrats on your success that's awesome! You're right as well, success can be fickle in this industry.

theres no magic solution on monetizing your traffic other than trying different offers and seeing which ones convert the best.
 
Yo with a health and fitness site you can promote awesome CPA offers, check out um offervault.com (i think thats what its called). I watched some dude from source wave show how to do it. He was promoting free sign up offers that were paying him $20 per lead, there was a ton of fitness offers on there, but I don't got a good site for any niches I found on there. But I'm a noob so hopefully some one smarter can give you a better twist on this. Cheers
 
I was thinking about failing with my 300 per day Adsense, but look, I invest that money, and if I lose all of my daily income tommorow, I would still have 3 businesses left that I made with Adsense money, and lot of money on my bank account.

Invest that, and I don't know what is your country, but over here in Bosnia, average payment monethly is 300$ and I can live like a lord with 1000$ monthly and I put other in investments, and gosh, I'm only 21. :D

Keep building your email list that is really important.

Monetization options are endless but you should consider creating your own products (info or in your case it could also be physical like supplements or something).

If you want a great business model here it is for you:

Website brings in traffic and converts people onto an email list
Email list + website convert people into a membership site
Membership site (bills monthly) makes you recurring income
Charge more money for people who want to take it to the next level (coaching usually)

If you have a recurring income that pays you directly and you grow your email list large enough you won't have nearly as many concerns because you can still operate if things go to hell.
 
Never ever quit your day job with one site as your income unless you have at least 2 months savings in your account. I can get a real job in 2 weeks, so I don't need 2 months, but I can switch to contracting quickly when times are slow, work a desk job, and then go back to freelancing.

When google punts your site, what are you going to do? And it will happen....
 
You're already making money, I would go full time IM. Find more niches, build more websites, in 8-10 hours you spend at your job you can make a lot of work and money on IM. It's not like you're giving up without having any clue. Go for an amazon affiliate website, just so you have different monetization ways.

Just because you are making $5k/month now doesn't matter you will forever. Save up your money.

You're going to have to make the leap someday so whenever you feel confident enough go for it. If you're making a steady amount of money, then I'd take the leap and go full time. Why waste your time on your other job when you could be scaling up and doubling or making more from your sites?

But if you're only making money here and there and it's not stable.. then you should think carefully.

Yes but if you read the OP, I'm making 70% of it with adsense. That's my biggest fear.

Oh, I'm saving, believe me : ) And this lasts for 4 years now. Of course in the beginning it was just small paychecks of $100-$200-$300 per month, but that has gradually increased to the amount I wrote. And for the last 12-14 months it's not bad. Actually there were about 4-5 month when it was around 7-8K with some sales I did (unfortunately the demand of the product has stopped)

What's wrong with one site ? Think a big authority site...some of these make a fortune and last since the 90's.
 
To be truly great and for lucrative opportunities & potential -- yes it is a full-time job!

That's retarded. So, you think this guy with 1 site should quit his job and "invest?" No, you always have liquid cash on hand when things get slow or that "investment" goes belly up. Always have something to back yourself for a rainy day.
 
To run a business you need cash. Thats the KEY. One of the stupidest things you can do is invest it all away. No matter what always have a decent amount of cash saved up, once that is done you can continue investing.
 
Same situation for me bro.

If you have savings and you know that you will survive for the next few months without "real" job, then I would give it a try. But of course you should work at IM like you work at your normal job. Means 8 hours per day.
The good thing in IM is that you can work everywhere you want. It's independent.

Go for it!
