Your frustration is really understandable.

You talked about being overwhelmed, you need to break the problem down and analyse it:
Are you getting visitors? if so where from?
What is your bounce rate and time on site
Where do you rank for your most important keywords - on Google on particular

Answering these will help you know the root cause of your problems. Without this information we are ahooting in the dark giving you advice.

Firt of all you need to do your homework. Study your competition. Find out what are the keywords that bring traffic in your niche. Save those keywords. Extend your research. Find new keywords that could bring you traffic (use google keyword planner; still works and does a hell of a job). After you know the keywords that could bring you traffic, USE THEM! Create articles that are optimized for these keywords (don't limit to just one article/ keyword; create several, inter-link them). Study more on new keyword optimization techniques that work with latest google updates. Also, optimize your website from this point view.

And now comes the tough part: create BACKLINKS for your keywords. You have tons of resources (free and paid) on this forum. Use them! If you're part of BHW, you can't go wrong! Success will come sooner or later.

Now, start with your homework (if you have already done it, check it again; something must be wrong there)
