Google search is powered by weighting algorithms which simplistically perform the ultimate job of ingesting a shit ton of content and determining what content is best to help serve the user who types the search query. Such an algorithm cannot compare every single sentence and permutation from every single piece of content within reasonable time limits.

And more to the point, even if this was viable, why would a single sentence being duplicated mean that the user was less likely to get what they want?

EDIT: To clarify, I'm not saying that 'all duplicated content is fine', I'm saying that some duplication of content is.

as I said there many other stuff involved to get to the top of the page .

if you got dup on the page you will full under your compitition?

google will punish you if you use dup content.

lower your indexing or delete your website.

it that simple

try it and see...

I absolutely assure you, if you have a single sentence on your page which has been used at some point somewhere else on the Internet, it will make zero difference to your ranking.

so why was copyscape made and used world wide in seo?

even google use it , in it algo.
 
i bet you, when a website has dup content it registered with Google and flagged as a bad website.

google has to have a database structure of dup content and website stats.

So just to make sure, I'm assuming that you never target any keywords that any other website has ever targeted right? Because obviously you're not the only website out there with "Auto Insurance" as a H1, so, clearly, you'll be flagged for duplicate content. Right?
 
your be flagged and lowers your chances to be on top of a page .

you got to think outside the box and no kw research to get huge traffic with sub keywords .

longtail keywords work perfect .

there million sub keywords that are longtail that can get you huge traffic and conversions .

sometimes if lucky a longtail indexed perfect kw can popup for it main keyword .

happens .


google know changing as we talk been happening over 2 weeks .

all indexed websites are affected .

i love blackhat so i do spam with content but I do it to earn cash and fuck off start agin .

Seo get boaring with all the rules , becomes a job .

Sorry, I just want to clarify this, are you actually taking the position that ever targeting a keyword anyone else has ever targeted will decrease your ranking?

no , what i am saying dont dup content and you will eventually hit the top but might need loads pbn to get there .

if you use dup content then your website will get punished .

de indexed or lowered indexing eventually.

remember google takes time so a fresh website with spam will last 2 or 3 months if it properly seo full bells and whisles.

a spammed bad seo website with dup 2 or 3 weeks when indexed or put to the back of the search engine.

getting a website indexed is more harder then ever .

can take 1 day to 8 months to be fully indexed.

Google's changing to verified content it all comming , that content that been verified aginst proven event's.

face reconition accounts and all crap comming

Fascinating responses so far. I'd be really curious on what side of the SEO spectrum the respondents are working too - not sure how I could ask that in a poll easily though!
 
Took a year of CIS before dropping out. The rest I learned from reading and applying IM work.
 
i have basic technical knowledge / background. i learn as i go. i learn what i need to learn as i need to learn it.. hopefully this makes sense.

Because by that point I had had enough of the education system. I didn't want to be another cog in the wheel. If I had known about BHW 10 years ago - I would not have ended up working at an auto shop.

Sounds very reasonable.

As an aside, if we're to believe the votes so far, 1/3 of BHW users have a degree+ in CS or similar technical field. From my experience this feels pretty unlikely.

What's everyone elses thoughts?
