Last time I was active on BHW I was doing a journey of building an authority site.
That failed because of multiple things.
1. I tried to bite more than I can swallow by starting all internet marketing with an authority site without doing proper keyword analysis or competition analysis.
2. My knowledge about the things I was writing about was bad - and I didn't want to do research - which resulted in bad content.
3. I outsourced too much and accepted bad quality work. I got ripped off by buying overprized domain hosting. Because of this I lost a lot of money I had got as a present - as a student I didn't have any source of money.
4. I was trying to balance between girlfriend, IM, school and hobbies. This turned out bad and I almost lost my loved girlfriend. School went bad and I failed a bunch of courses.
5. I didn't have anything that wasn't already available on similar, more established websited - my website didn't have any value for the customer.
6. My only monetizing method was using adsense.
It's been a while and I've caught up a lot at school. My computer skills have improved and I've become very skilled programmer. Last summer I got dream summerjob as a developer at a very large IT firm. At my job I started dreaming about doing work for myself, so I stumbled here again.
I've now learned my lesson and before starting anything I will make sure I have a product that people want. School (and girlfriend) goes first until I am really making money.
That said I hope I can take advantage of my development skills and build something beautiful myself or with some of you great people here on Black Hat World!
