I have been at #1 for Top Restaurant NYC (100,000 searches/month) for a week now and have only amounted about 200 hits. A programmer for India I know says there is a backend error that is causing my stats to be lacking.

1) Is that possible?
2) I have only recieved 2 hits on my adsense in the 2 days I added it to my site, how is that possible

Dude.. your keyword only receives 58 searches a month. Look at exact match when doing keyword research.

73 now you right 2 hits x 30 day (1 month) = 60++visitor

tell your programmer to edit the awstat lol

It says 110,000 searches per month.

If that isnt accurate where should I look for accurate keyword searches/month?

You're looking under broad, which basically means there's 100k searches a month that are containing those keywords, but not necessarily the keywords in that order. You want to do your keyword research with [exact], and there are only about 73 searches done across the world per month for your keyword.

many of us did this kind of mistakes in the beginning

but you learnt it the hardway - AFTER investing

although google keyword tool is easy, you need to learn how exactly it works.
I also bought some useless domains before because of google keyword tool's broad search results.

Just do some research before you invest and you are fine!
