it works to some point, same like hashtags can work on a regular post.

My stories get around 20% more views from the hashtag, just don't use hashtags in all your stories or IG will ban you from using them in stories.

It does bring some visitors but it doesn't bring a lot though. Per say, It's good to have some hashtags

hmm...maybe I try so the point is not don't every stories put hashtag than.

actually how many hashtag is ideal for stories?

Just one, I don't know what IG exactly does with more than one, but in my experience I don't get views from the hashtags if I put more than one in the story.

And yes don't use them on every story or repeat the same hashtags too much. Even trying to be as careful as possible I get some little ban for using hashtags in stories eventually.
