Hey fellas, I was thinking about the following setup and I want to hear your opinion and experience if it still works today:

I run an IG page dedicated to fishing (fishing videos and pics) and have the link to my dropshipping store in bio where I sell fishing accessories as well as clothing like t-shirts for fishermen.

Your thoughts?

Thanks

In theory yes, your idea will work, but there are a few things you need to ensure.

You will need to have an ig business account with 10,000+ followers and then it will all depend on your active engagement level.

You need to be able to blend the products into your content and build out a store at a similar quality level to what you currently do now.

So far most of my sales on IG have come from the swipe up on my stories. Make sure you are always engaging there. Makes you look more active to new people coming to your page, and that's where your most active followers will be. Also find ways to cleverly implement the shopping tag in your posts as those will have greater reach than your stories and may net you some extra sales.

Are you running it right now or planning to do such business model? If you are doing it already, let us know how it goes.
Im still building my network, i wont start before i hit 100K at least.

I am also trying to increase my instagram followers on outdoor niche. 10 days, 115 followers till now. 65 posts, I am following almost 500 people. All are done manually. No bot is working.

It definitely works today, but you need to start to see if it works for you. Yes, it sounds extremely boring, but try to bring quality to every step of your funnel, don't half ass it.

What kind of funnel do you recommend from Instagram ? (Phone)
Swipe up -> Landing page with email opt-in or directly to product page with a pop up ?
I can't see how funnel work with traffic from Instagram

Nope, straight to the page if you're selling physical products. You don't need people distracted by taking extra steps before they can see what it is that you're selling, again, applies to physical products only.

So what were you calling "every steps of your funnel" ?
Or you were only talking to virtual products ?

I'm not implying that you need to have ten redirects before a customer sees the product, far from it.

Instagram → Product Page → Cart Page is still a funnel.

I agree with this and I've found that Swipe Up -> Product Page -> Check Out Page

skipping the cart and going straight to checkout has worked the best for me so far. And bonus if you add a one click upsell right after they complete their check out

After they complete the check-out ? You mean that you wait for them to pay before upselling something ?

Agree, but as I've said, it highly depends on the products you sell. I don't think your strategy works for high ticket items, but you're rightfully using it for small to mid priced products.

yeah there's a few apps that will pop up with a onclick upsell right after they pay

right I haven't tried this for high ticket items yet mostly impulse buys

Oh, such an active discussion here. Love it!

@GringoMonkey, why 10k+ exactly? I am not talking about selling shoutouts. When you are growing your account people are checking out your profile before they start following you. And some of them would click the link to your store and might buy something.

Agree on the quality.

@codenamefrog, thanks on the input. Can you share how soon you started selling? And how many followers you need to get a decent amount of sales? In your experience.

@ALAABA , I'm just starting out. So I was curious to listen to the experienced guys. I'm already doing some steps and will launch everything in a few days.

What will you not start before you hit 100k subs? Selling stuff? Why not?

@mastertanvir, best of luck! I'm thinking to run some ads to grow the account faster.

@FUTUR TIM great to hear that it works today. Do you mind sharing more details and give some success examples?

At 10,000 followers you are classed as a micro influencer and your ig stories can use the swipe up feature.

I started selling at 10K followers, for a decent story post my views were about 4K and that resulted in about 34 swipe ups and about 15 people going to my profile. Depending on how well I put together the product page that resulted in roughly 2 - 3 sells. Not amazing but not bad considering I haven't spent a dime on promoting or testing. I did have to really slow down on the hard selling though as it was starting to kill the engagement on my page.

Thanks for sharing.

In your experience nobody clicks the link in your bio without promoting actively?

I run 9 niche same ig pages. Follow/unfollow/post etc. Pages are hq and no signs of promotions. No link in bio etc. My only promo is via dm. I am dming new followers on these theme pages with promo code 10% off. I am getting around 13-20 daily visits on site but no purchases . When I will sell my first product I will scale up to 100 theme pages with the same strategy.
