I would study which services are in High demand ( read : have a hungry crowd) and would choose the service I find most comfortable to my aptitude. Then I would update my skillsets related to that service and start offering the service. It would take me maximum 6 month to achieve $1000 per month. Offering services are still the best method in my opinion

If I wanted a relative safe way to make $1000 per month I would start a monthly maintenance service for WordPress websites, that would take about 20 minutes per website of work per month normally, then up-sell services like speed optimisation and so on to those customers.
90 customers x $15 = $1350 - 90 customers x 20 minutes each = 30 hours of work each month. That is a about $45/Hour in payment.
Then I would take up fishing, and enjoy my life.
Ps. This is a plan for people living in a cheap country, which I am not right now. It only shows that you can make money with very low efforts anywhere in the world. All you need is a domain for $10 and a $5 per year webhosting from a company like HostKoala to get started. Thats a longterm business for $15, what are you waiting for .. =)

I would go with white hat blogging again but this time I would build multiple blogs and get the writing and SEO done by others and focus on designing and creating plans myself.

As in any business, you need to market yours, but the good thing is your a member of BHW that has unlimited resources to learn. Maintenance services usually starts around $40 and up per month, that is why I suggested to start low at $15 and wrote a plan to earn good money per hour anyway, to out-price most of them, easier sell that way. You do need some knowledge of WordPress though, and maybe use a service like wp-umbrella.com to help free up time for your marketing.
