I come from different field (real-estate related in the physical and virtual world), so can't point to specific strengths in IM world. I am comfortable with many subjects and not particularly excited or worried from any specific niche. Anything i know is not chasing pipe dreams i can try and make work for me.

Agreed, But with so many legit business model options, That is also a cause for confusion on deciding which is preferred compared to others.
Save your 3k as SEO takes time and you'll need money to test various different sites on rankings, etc. Since you are asking what to do with such money just save it. It is better to think up legit business models then to just buy proxies and hope your cpa spam returns results. I find most of those journeys about cpa spam on social media to end up with them giving up after a bit or abandoning the thread. The funny thing is its preached and praised that these methods are suggested and popular, but yeild no real results for money... I think a sucker would have to rely on spam to gain his profits, rather than a solid repeat sales base from customers who are loyal through brand marketing strategies... Then again we are dealing with the illogical here so save your money...

Based on my personal experience, I think the best thing to start is ranking parasites with BHSEO. If you do it right with a lot of parasites (5+), it's kinda hard not to be successful after some time. Also it can be done with such low investments...
Not sure how much continuity i can see with parasites if at all in 2016?
If you can risk up to $3.000 i would purchase a page on Instagram. You could get a 300.000-400.000 page and you can use several methods to monetize the page at the same time.
* Affiliate Marketing
* Paid posts
* Website + Ads
Combine all three and you are going to have a good ROI.
From the little bit I know, Not sure if that is a good suggestion at all.
I agree with the above post, dropshipping with AliExpress is hot right now. You should give that a try if you're looking for something easy.
Not against easy, but not necessarily looking for easy, Looking for fairly steady with potential to scale and automate well.

Generally, I see claims of people explaining they see 300+% return on investment with paid traffic purchased in FB/Adwords or similar. I would be more then happy with near 100%
Also it can be done with such low investments...
