If the user clicks an internal nofollow link will it reduce bounce %?

Basically I wrote a large article the other day while following a guide on SEO. I then realized if the user doesnt keep reading other pages it counts as a bounce. So I added a small picture gallery as no follow to try and reduce the bounce rate which was high at 75%... The wierd thing is the article was very high quality, 2500 words approx and targetted users from adverts. After I added this nofollow link to my internal gallery the opposite expectation has happened... my bounce rate went up to 100% with 9 second average time spent on page vs 3 minutes before. Is the no follow counting as a bounce? Should I remove the rel?
