I have a pbn website and the client makes a request

But let's assume that the client website is a spam website. For example, gambling

Can it have a bad effect on the pbn website I have?

I'm in the position of giving a link

For cbd, adult, gambling, betting and smm panel ideally you want to have cbd, adult, gambling, betting and smm panel pbns or overlapping pbns else, yes, you are risking your pbns.
 
Reject the request since linking your PBN website to a spam website, even without gambling-related anchor text, can have several negative consequences for your PBN.
 
So what? Just publish another bunch of content to compensate if it makes you feel better. Google does not care anyway.
 
Adult, pill, and gambling sites aren't inherently spam. If the site is actually a spam site, then I'd avoid it. If it's just a gambling site trying to get by with another backlink, the big G doesn't really care. Hell, there's even a rich snippet (PAA) on Google asking "what is the best gambling site" with a bunch of website URLs listed. Oddly enough, there aren't any actual links to those sites, so use your best judgement.

I too suggest, gambling site If the site is a spam, it can cause problem for your PBN so avoid risking your pbns.

Connecting your website to a spammy or gambling site, even with different words, might still cause problems because search engines might link your site to those bad ones.

To stay safe just stick to linking with good, trustworthy websites instead!
