If no other adds 1p clicks?

Im pretty new to PPC and with my own sites I just use pure SEO. I recently got a new job though revolving around social media and whatnot and adwords is something we are looking at.

What im wondering is if there are no competitor advertisements with adwords for the search results for the keyword and I set the max click cost at 1p will I win and get my add displayed at the top of the serps?.

The keywords im looking at seem decent and theres no other advertisements at the top of the page at all as its fairly niche and local.

On the estimator its saying 30p per click which is why im wondering if 1p is infact possible.

I was wondering the same thing myself. Searching for my keywords only showed an ad every few page refreshes. And it was always the same add from the same advertiser. The keyword tool shows competition for them is low so I guess this other advertiser is the only competition for them.

I'm going to try bidding 1 cent as well and see if my ads show.

No. I stubbornly wouldn't raise my bids past .05 for a month at one point. Some keywords I was the only one in the state bidding anything on them and the ads never ran.
