This kind of data is very expensive. Free tools aren't able to provide anything close to accurate data.
Google keyword tool in adwords is very accurate but you have to spend some $ eventually in ads.

Ahrefs has a free program but you must first buy the $7 trial then you will revert back to the free plan. As for the others you can google free alternatives. When your site is new these paid tools offer little value as there is little to show.

Soovle [dot] com for mining long-tail keywords is very good choice and Google Keyword Planner as well for seeding main keywords and getting ideas for those keywords

Create free account at Keywordfinder and keywordrevealer.. do some researches for your keywords to get ideas and competition... This all you need
I have access to paid tools, but rarely use them and use what I mentioned above. Taking a look at first page results are enough to know if this is a good keyword to target. Don't complicate things when you are starting.
Pick up a long keyword with good searches and enough traffic, and build links till you rank. Once you make your first $/day, it will be a lot easier to go from there.

I've also tried to have a look around for any good free tools but it seems like none of them can compete with Ahrefs or SemRush paid versions so I ended up paying for the cheapest pricing plans and must say it's well worth it.
As mentioned above by others, I think your best bet is some free plugin versions of the tools. You could try and get by using just the daily limits from websites such as kwfinder but that usually doesn't cut it for most I think. Alternatively, MOZ and searchenginegenie seems to have some cool free tools that may be of benefit.

seoquake is a decent toolbar especially if connected to semrush. SEOquake is a free browser extension

semrush offers free but limited access but for ahref there are some services that provide you access i know of a site that claims to give you 2 and 3 days semrush access for INR 20 and 50 fliktools(dot)com but i advice you to do your own diligence before you try them

you can use google keyword planner for free, keyword everywhere chrome extension which is a good extension to find good long tail keywords for your website plus you can use premium tools like semrush, ahrefs, majectic and kwfinder for some time in a whole day.
