Hi,

If I sell a website via paypal and someone pays me $500 for it as a "gift", then I deliver the website, can they later ask for a refund from paypal or file a dispute and win?

I'm not familiar with paypal's gift policies and what would happen if the buyer gets the site and later decides to also get his money to rip me off.

Anyone know?

Thanks

They can always chargeback and get the money back, even if they gifted.

I they go to the bank and do a chargeback they can and paypal is helpless to help you man....

They can't open a PayPal dispute against gifts although it is not fool-proof since they can call their bank and claim fraud/faulty charge if they use a debit or credit to fund the payment.

depends, if it comes from a person paypal funds..then no, but if a person chooses gift and they use there visa or mastercard to pay u, they can always go to the bank file a chargeback against paypal...and get there money back, paypal will eventually take it from u.

I'm just chiming in from my own sad sorry experiences.

If you pay someone using the "gift" feature or other personal payment options to avoid the fees PayPal won't let you open a dispute. You can call your bank and try to do a chargeback, but the bank won't 100% side for you. They will want proof that some fraud took place so unless you were buying something tangible you may run into trouble.
