Can I tell them to put my link to my web design company on the bottom of the site that they designed? Would that be rude to ask them to do that since it was their design..

If you have bought that website or using their hosting services, you can ask them to do whatever you want that they make for you!

If you have paid for that design you can ask them anything to do.

I agree, if you paid for it, put your own link in the footer.

You should put that in the job description so that anyone who takes your job knows that ahead of time.
