i have a dentist site ranked locally on page one of google, if i change the wordpress theme will that effect my rankings on google?

Maybe. The biggest problems would be if your interlinking structure was changed or if it changed how much content each page had. Both would be a problem if you went from a theme that shows full posts to a theme that shows just excerpts.

This is one of those questions that's up in the air.

Honestly what is written about linking structure + content is probably the most closest to an answer you can get.

I've completely re-designed one of my sites while it was ranking, and it kept it's rank. I think Google expects people to make changes to their site ... as long as the new site is functional it's good to go.

Just make sure you don't put up your site before you're ready to ... take the time to test out all the links and make sure they all work + double check the content and make sure that you didn't miss any pages.

No, your ranking will not be effected. I completely changed my wordpress theme to something more ad optimized, and my bounce rate decreased over 20%, my site views increased about 50-100 per day, and I'm now making almost twice as much as I was before with the same website.

Now obviously those changes were because people stay on the site longer and click ads more with the new theme. But the point is it definitely had no negative effect on my ranking. I actually think some of my rankings for long-tail keywords increased.

I'm glad I checked here. I was wondering how it could be effected.

This is a point to keep in mind when considering a new theme switch. It is also a common newbie mistake, and many wonder why their traffic falls off. The fact of the matter is that most site visitors get pretty tired quickly of clicking "Read more" in order to finish the rest of a blog post or site article. That preview feature on some site templates can also be easy to miss in some cases. I would recommend doing plenty of shopping around and theme live previews before deciding on switching overt to a new one. Hopefully this tip is helpful.

This is a good question i want to change my theme in wordpress but now i will be carefully to do that , thanks guys for the information :)

Hello,

From my experience it will affect your rankins because the onsite seo will be different and it will take time for G to crawl your new theme and prolly consider it as new content. After all this happens you can prolly get back in almost the same ranks you had before but this are slim chances.

Hope this helps.

How long do you think it'll take to get back to your previous rank
