I guess it will be like trust problem..Some people will not trust you then after.
I would rather not mention them that I changed the name and just continue posting new pictures.
Ofcourse, I would change the "Bio", Profile picture and delete all previous pictures.
Some people will unfollow you but if you see that your accounts isn't growing very well and that you have some better idea to jump on, it is certainly better to do it from account that already has some followers than starting from the bottom again.

You'll get a few people unfollow you but as long as its in the same niche it should all be fine!
