Who pays for the identity protection on domain names and is it really worth it?

I checked a few registrars and they want pretty much half again for their Whois protection!

If you use namecheap the 1st year whois guard is FREE

They don't look to bad, even offer you an ssl cert for a couple of bucks!

Take it they give you some kind of control panel to let you change the name servers etc.
Think I may have just found a new registra cheers

Or Internetbs

They give whois protection free as long as you keep renewing domains.

I get my first year who is protection free with every domain at Namecheap.
