So... I've been doing my this make money online thing for a few months now and have been moderately successful. I bring in money, not a ton but it comes from all different sources so a little here and a little there usually adds up to a decent amount. However, the end of the month has come and gone and I'm in a pretty rough patch. I've been frantically trying to scale up the things I do (necessity is the mother of innovation) and actually had some good success with it.

I use Swyze to monetize a few Tumblr blogs and with a few automation tools I can shove hundreds of links out there every day with maybe 20 minutes of effort. I focused on porn because...well sex sells. I haven't dabbled in 'regular' niches as yet but a thought that haunts me is that given the Tumblr crowd I could probably jump my numbers up even more if I were to make a Bieber blog or some crap like that. I also have thrown on a few affiliate ads there and they get a few clicks but Tumblr folk aren't exactly buyers. Thats why I focused on Swyze. I don't have to sell them on anything. Just show them a picture they like. Simple.

I've also rented a VPS and started on a Runescape goldfarming adventure but that seems as though it will take some time before it becomes profitable. I work a few different programs for YouTube views which I have tried to sell on Fiverr but I have no rep there. I'm guessing that's the reason for no sales because I priced them quite competitively based on existing gigs.

Finally there is my fall back of freelance writing. I do a lot of this for private clients. Sorry but Fiverr sucks for this. I've seen people selling several 500 word articles for 5 bucks there. Meaning they only get 4 for their work whereas some of my clients pay 15 for 250 word write ups. In my mind for freelance writing, private clients are the best way to go. *shrug*

So I'm just looking for some input, more ideas, thoughts, whatever about anything that I can do to generate some cash quickly. It is of course a temporary problem. I know there are a ton of other ventures I could put my effort into but 99% of them take more time to pay out than I have. I would advertise my services here but I can't afford it. :(

I would be eternally grateful for anything that you think might help.

I'm interested on how you ate using Swyze with tumblr... Could you please share more? PM me if you don't want to share publicly. I've been working on some monetizing methods will tumblr as well.

Thanks!

Advice, in no particular order of importance....

Do what few others are doing. You will instantly have less competition and more differentiation.

Provide value in all you do. It helps you be remembered as well as appreciated.

Strive to create things that will last. It prevents you from having to repeat your efforts.

Whatever you do, do it well. It will help you maintain a good reputation and will (often) multiply the payoff from your efforts.

Think big. Allow others to think in the usual way, the easy way, the common way. But you - always think of what else is possible.

Be consistent. Never try something and then give up. Try it, explore it, alter it, do it with a new twist - and then if it still doesn't work, quit. And try something else. But be consistent in your efforts so you truly know what works and what does not.

Specialize in something. Whether it's a certain type of method, a specific niche, a skill, or something else that you can apply to IM - become an expert in at least one thing.

Be a doer - not a talker. The majority of people are unsuccessful due to their lack of action.

Always ask yourself, "What is the best possible use of my time - right now?". You'll find that asking yourself that one question - often - will consistently put you back on the right path.

That's all I got for now, buddy. I wish you success!

Thanks LowBrow. With each bullet point I could reflect on what I am currently doing and how I am or am not living up to those guidelines.
And Jax I've been knocking around the idea of writing a "How to make money with no investment on Tumblr" guide. Just have to juggle 15 other things. But it should be relatively simple once I get it going. Yes there are a few 'tricks' and that will be included.

If I made such a guide would I be able to somehow offer it here for review? I can't afford to list it as a sales page and it is just going to be a short guide anyway. *shrug*

Over the course of an evening I have created my own guide to making money with Tumblr. Polished up pretty nice for my very first creation. If anyone is interested in reviewing it please PM me.

Cheers.
