Hello BHW members/ntors
I am starting a psychology themed website, not to rip off 16types, but this one will be focused on negative personality traits in people along with articles about reasons people do all the... annoying things they do, be that annoying for themselves or those around them.
But unlike the tautology with being self-destructive, I am stuck at thinking how can I monetize this website.
Honestly I would like to avoid ugly adds of every random seller peerfly or googleads will want to shove at my website, so if you may please suggest a pair of things that would work.
Some ideas that came to mind:
Merchandise
Ebooks

Try Clickbank or Amazon Affiliate and recommend books or seminars related to the topic. You can add some ad banners on your website for some extra cash.

Sell ad space to psychotherapists.
If you aren't locally targeted, you can find psychotherapist that work online (ex. skype).

Stay away from "psychology". It is related to psychiatry and people that use them are "nuts"

Also your "negative traits" idea is bad. People with "negative traits" -

1) Don't recognize their problems
2) Don't care about their problems
3) Already know everything in the world
4) Are troublemakers and will cancel their sales.
5) And almost always have no money to spend to help themselves

Remember how to make money -

When you make people smart or make people rich.

Sometimes when you make them smart, they get rich.

So your niche is "self help" because people into "self help" are smart, beautiful and rich. At least that is what you are supposed to think when you take that Tony Robbins $20,000 mastermind weekend.....

Create a touchy-feely brand for the self-help niche.

Get the domain for it, install Wordpress on your "free CPanel web host"

Find a PLR club with several self help products on "self-help"

Here is a couple -

1 Percent Better Every Day

Unshakeable Confidence

Overcoming Anxiety

How To Develop Emotional Intelligence

Google and you will find them.

Use their sales pages as articles

Pull chapters from the ebooks and use them as articles.

Give away the courses to build your list or membership site.

Create an Amazon shop with cherry picked products in the self help niche, books, organic foods, health supplements, new age type clothing, crystals, salt lamps, aroma therapy, oils, etc.

Create a T-Shirt shop using your brand and one of the Print on Demand T-Shirt printers. See the articles on BHW about T-Shirts.

The money is in T-Shirts. Everyone can afford a T-Shirt.

To figure out the newest trends subscribe to trade magazines (usually free)

If you need to get an idea of "self help" sales copy, visit archive.org and search "GuruDAQ.com" It was still working in 2018. Look under "self help" and you will see the big names. Using a Gmail account and subscribe to all their sites. You will be avalanched with offers for their products. You can see how they sell products and get an idea of their sales funnels.

HIDE YOUR CREDIT CARD before reading those sales letters. They use NLP and advanced conversational hypnosis to sell their products. I kid you not. You have been warned.

If you want to be famous, cut your hair, remove the tatoos and wear a suit. Then take those PLR books and tweak/rewrite them to be your own product. Or go on Fiverr and get a ghostwriter to write a new 150-200 page "self help" book. Put your name on it, copyright it and print it on Lightning Source or Amazon Createspace.

NOW you are an "authority".

You have a website and a book that is for sale on Amazon.

Promote them on the web (forums, youtube videos, etc) as well as locally health food stores, yoga clubs, new age shops, conferences, etc.

You can repeat this process with each of those sub niches you see in the PLR products and you can build an entire network of associated "brands"

You also will have every woman in the world hitting on you.

Sincerely,

TheEye

This is useful for getting ideas on what products to create, thank you.

That gave me an idea of adding counseling trough web, maybe half an hour to an hour a day to a random subscriber.
Gotta have them fill a form so I have some of the info, thanks.

Just to play safe I hope you are accredited to do that.
Keep your clients/patients safe. Don't fuck them more than they are.

Woah.... First of all I want to thank you for the effort you put into explaining and analyzing the market for me.
I loved the playful mix of information and humor.
Honestly I've been planning some of the parts you mentioned, trough a psychiatric approach indeed, starting from Winnicot, Bowlbi and ultimately reaching modern life trough social engineering with Greene.
But with your holistic approach you actually said what I seem to forget a lot of times, most people don't want to recognize themselves and would very rather watch a potential mirror of greatness and that when we want to make do business, the right approach is the one that works.

Personal ambitions and business often don't cooperate well.
You gave me a lot to think about and I'll have to rebuild the idea having thy facts in mind.
Thanks again

Yeah, that's probably the most solid advice one should follow in the field, don't fuck them more than they are.
If I should include this feature as "trail version of service" I'll try to be more superficial at start, online counseling will be new for me as well, tho it sounds easier than physical, it's better to play safe.
