Greeting all,

I was thinking tonight and I think I might have thought of a (legitimate?) idea for YT video Ad clicks. Now, DO NOT rip me a new rear end and excuse me if this is something that won't work, or just can't be done, or shouldn't be done etc., etc. I don't claim to be a YouTube guru and never have. So again, this is just some random brainstorming.

I've done a number of giveaways on my channel in the past .... Giving away items similar to that with which I deal with on my YT channel. Giveaways for when subscribers/viewers answer a question correctly, or some other action. What if a person were to make a graphic (photoshop) that simply states at the beginning of your video, "for a chance to win such-and-such, be sure to click the ad below," with an arrow pointing to where the ad will be. Just make sure it is legitimate. I am not sure on this (again I am not a Youtube or Adsense expert), but can't you set up your own ads which will appear in videos? IF that's the case, then you can monitor who is clicking ads, and the X-th person to click the ad (or whatever) wins some small prize.

Viewers don't have to win your prize, they don't have to click your ad if they don't want to. No one is forcing them. It's an option for them, if they want to be eligible to win the prize. The point is to keep the entire thing completely legitimate. You do make good on your proposal and you do deliver the prize. Reputation is everything.

Remembering that this was just a layman's idea, OK, now you all can tell me what I'm missing and where I'm going wrong.

Didn't know that. Guess that puts an end to that idea.

You will be banned instantly with this method

Yeah I'm gathering that. Guess that puts an end to my idea. Mod may as well delete this thread.

If you are creating and running your own adwords campaign and specifically targeting them only on to your video, you can then have the custom ad read "Click This Ad to Have a Chance To Win etc" or even create a pre roll commercial of yourself telling people to click this ad etc.

But from what i understand, the entire purpose for this is to monitor clicks to select a winner? There are easier methods in hosting giveaways and selecting the winners.

hmm giveaways..never thought of mass blasting giveaway videos, might try that out soon.

I would give away small items, usually less than $100 or sometimes less than $50. -Price doesn't really matter, it could be $5 as long as it's something desirable and something your audience would really want.- And the amount of views, likes and comments these giveaways would get me was great .. made my videos more popular ... and therefore made me much more money by way of higher CTR on my ads.

But can we give viewers an incentive to click our ad under any circumstances? Apparently not. That seems to be the question at issue here.

I'm sure there is a good deal of truth to this, and in addition, if you can get viewers to click your ad, say, one-hundred times a day as opposed to only five or ten times a day, this would obviously make a huge difference in your Adsense earnings. But again, it seems (according to what people are saying here) there is no way to do this in a legitimate manner. If it could be done in a legit way that wasn't against any of the Youtube/Adsense TOS, it would make a very big difference indeed.

Oh, I think you mis understood, I'm not going to have a giveaway, just gonna mass upload giveaway videos, like a scam if you will. by the time these people realize it's a scam i'll be racking in the big bucks.

Haha there are people that already do that. Not to say it's over saturated or anything, i haven't looked into it much. But from my experience, at the end of all my videos i give away some type of t-shirt(s) or props from my videos. Works out really since people have more of an incentive to comment on my video other than just telling me how freakin awesome my video is. And they come back to leave more comments/tell their friends to do the same. But then again, i'm legitimately giving away these items....sometimes. Meaning it would be a lot harder to blast scam videos without any rep/fan base. But there are a lot of naive people on YouTube so if you are blasting a ton then i'm sure it will work.

I do remember seeing back in march people were view botting scam contests/giveaways and that worked out a bit better because people automatically think if a video is on front page/has tons of views it must be legit.

Well if you are telling people to click on your ads through your ads then that is okay. But i don't know if it's worth it since you are paying for those ads yourself.
