Id required for Apple maps?

Im starting to see sites requiring ID to create accounts. I just got that when trying to setup a location on Apple Maps. anyone else seeing this? with constant security breasches, I'm leary about giving some third part a copy of my ID with a video of my face.

I only go through with it if it’s a platform I really need. Otherwise I just look for alternative ways. It’s becoming more common though.

Don't they do this only when they flag something?

Even the big platforms get breached, but yeah. If it's a service you absolutely need, then just go for it I suppose. Unless you've gone this far without compromising that side of your privacy to some other platform or service, it's usually worth it. A healthy grain of salt on that statement though. It usually works out alright but life tends to throw curve balls to a choice few every now and then.

that sucks but i believe is because your account was somehow flagged otherwise they may not require i believe but id requiring got crazy lately for everything ....... i see many services requiring now id but they make no sense as are not banks
