    Hello All,

I'm a little new to this forum, so bear with me if it shows...:)

I work as an insurance agent- and I have dabbled in the different lead services which I will say are nothing spectacular:confused:. I won't go into great detail on that, but I want to start generating leads for myself and I would appreciate any helpful insight you guys can provide.

I've developed my own website to source leads, and I plan on driving traffic utilizing mailing campaigns. I would pay per lead or a rev share type structure.

When it comes to SEO, I would say that insurance is probably one of the most expensive and over saturated markets, so I would steer clear of that.

That is the basics of my vision, and if anyone could give me some constructive criticism or point me in the right direction with the mailing campaign I would really appreciate.

Depends on your mailing campaigns and how good your lead gen site is.

I used to do insurance lead gen PPC campaigns and it's really not over saturated. You just have to keep tweaking, tracking and analyzing. Get a good quality score, adjust your pricing and over the months your conversion rate will go up and your cost per click will go down at the same time and you'll be a happy camper.

if you look at insurance generally, yes it's competitive, but if you find a niche within insurance, it would be much easier. and there are probably hundreds of different kinds of insurance.

I'm focusing on Life Insurace Leads. I want to generate quality traffic to my site; what is the 'typical route' with that? I know someone mentioned PPC, but my experience with PPC was that it was very expensive and not quite effective. (Bad quality traffic).

I would be more interested in paying per lead or perhaps even revenue sharing with any mailer/affiliates.

As far as the 'quality' of my lead gen site, I think its pretty good I just have a form to fill out for leads on the home page, and all information regarding the types of insurance as well...

I would still use some localized seo for the long tailed insurance searcher...

It will still convert for you when they search your area.

    "Auto Insurance Charlotte",
    "Local Homeowners Insurance Savings",
"Insuring your Toys with DaveCreative", etc.

You will still benefit from this kind of basic seo - you may be surprised?

What city are you in in New York? Go register some keyword geo-domains for the towns and cities around your area. Mask and redirect them back to your main site or build landing pages for the new domains. ie. lifeinsuranceyourtown.com, yourtownlifeinsurance.com these type of domains will get direct navigation traffic and the highest quality leads direct to you. I have 149 insurance domains of this type but none in new york.
