Hey All,

I'm currently lost with an area I'm working with.

I have the joyful task of ranking well without a semi-competitive keyword phrase that has the top ranking sites not being all that aware of site optimisation.

Now my problem is, I've optimised my site title, descript, kw density, keywords, anchor text and all the givens... making sure my kw density is around 4.25-4.5%.

I thought that would be fine, however when running my site through IBP10, it tells me my site gets a dismal 70% rating when compared to the currently ranking websites. It took points off because their highest kw density was 1.1% and some had no meta description at all.

Does anyone here know which source I should listen to? Is IBP worth listening to - and if so, should I remove "my" optimisation in favour of the IBP report? OR.... ???

Your experiences would be most beneficial and I'd appreciate any tips :)

Thanks,
Ellie

IBP stays up to date with current trends, i would not though go by what a pirated copy says as this needs updates constantly. Its a good program but your best hand optimising with current trends, this can be done here, or in "white hat" forums, but most around like DP are full of retards who dont know SEO in detail.

Thanks Harro, as usual you are helpful and straight to the point.

One big question however, IBP has suggested I lower my keyword density to under 2%. Isnt it generally (I understand it varies with each situation) better advised to aim for 4-4.5%?

Ellie, i've always found that as long as the phrase you want to rank for is on the page, then you can rank for it. You just need links; and remember that internal links help too

dude, its fuckin all abt backlinks, Just get a couple of pr2, pr3 backlinks with target keywords. don't worry abt anything else.
