That error usually happens because you’re uploading the wrong ZIP—most theme downloads include extra files (docs, licenses, demo content). You need to extract the package and upload only the actual theme folder (the one that directly contains style.css) as a ZIP.

That error usually happens when the theme folder is not uploaded correctly. Many theme zips come with extra files (like documentation, license, demo data) inside the main zip. You need to extract the download first, then only upload the actual theme folder that contains style.css.


Try this: unzip → find the real theme folder (where style.css is inside) → compress it again and upload. That should fix the error
