or did you try to unzip and check if style.css is present,if yes then make new zip file directly from the folder style.css i present, because if its inside of 2 or more folder deeper then you can face this issue!

That usually happens if you upload the wrong zip file. Many themes come with a “main” zip that includes docs, licenses, etc. Inside it there’s another zip that actually has the style.css. Try extracting first, then upload just the theme folder zip.
