I just noticed "Google Instant" today and I must admit it's pretty cool from a users stand point but what about us marketers?

I think it's smarter to focus on local SEO these days anyway because if you live in a different city or region your going to get different results than everyone else.

Why don't you read one of the other 100 threads about it?

The results pop up instantly, I don't think the results change at all, the user just gets them quicker, if anything SEO long tail keywords is the key

I don't think it'll change anything much. People are conditioned to using their search engines a certain way, and mostly people will still just type in and press enter (especially when using the little search field in the top right of most browsers, where nothing changes at all).

Google instant dont change anything, the results are the same and only changes is the visual aspect.

Nobody thinks they might see what they are looking for before completely typing in their search?

I really hate google instant its annoying to see the results change like that.

Its faster though, yes

Are you sure? I think you should consider your sentence again after 3 months.

I think its going affect traffic for long tailed keywords.....

Someone needs to find ways to take advantage of this.

I bet mispellings is something that could be taken advantage of with this.

so tonight i was look up something and typed in:

how to use a

and got "instant" suggestions of:

how to use a rice cooker
how to use a tampon
how to use a compass
how to use a condom

freaked me out since i have a young daughter and taught her awhile ago that was one of the best phrases to use to find out how to do something :-)

to early to say what effect it will have,
But the ads on the side i think will be effected in a bad way

I so hope you're right.

But I also know that there are so many people who are not very skilled at searching and that will cause long tail keyword traffic to drop.

My dad for instance always starts a search by typing in the full url to google - including http and all to do a search.

And a general comment to the people here who says that it doesn't matter because the ranking won't change; You are completely missing the point.

Google Instant is all about letting people find a suitable page with as few keystrokes as possible - and few keystrokes and long tail keywords are just mutually exclusive.

The impact of Google Instant will of course be clearly visible in your stats shortly, and then all speculation can stop ;)

ive found with it that if i click their suggestion it gives a different result to when i carry on typing & search for the keyword,i think that will make a difference because no one likes typing , this looks like it will divide the traffic more evenly

From a user stand point I personally think Google Instant is Quite annoying... Atleast thats my opionion... It looks like one of those pages with 5 banners saying "YOU ARE THE 9 999 999 VISITOR YOU WON CLICK HERE TO CLAIM PRIZE(VIRUS)
