I was scammed - Who's in the wrong now?

So the other day, a guy was advertising that he was selling a tumblr blog for $635. It was in a facebook group that I was not a part of, but someone I had dealt with before was.


We made the deal and I sent him (the guy I previously dealt with) the $635 through Paypal and said he would be getting the login from the seller within 3 days after he sends him the money. The seller lives in Brazil and wanted the money through bank transfer because he didn't have a Paypal (which was stupid of him to send the money that way) because there is no getting it back if he happens to scam.


In the end, the seller turned out to be a scammer and did not give the blog or the money back. I asked the guy to refund me and he said no since he already paid the seller. Like wtf? I was the one who was scammed and you were the idiot who decided to not send it through Paypal. I can confirm though that he didn't receive the blog or his money back (because he gave me the sellers name and I messaged him), but that is HIS fault.


I opened a case against him in Paypal the other day and now he's mad and saying it's wrong for me to be taking his money like I'm scamming him?! LOL, does he have a mental problem?


So who do you think is wrong in this situation?

Just get the money back. Its probabaly the 1st guy that is a scammer the 2nd one is just a cover up.
 
Well, the scammer is the main person in the wrong obviously, then the guy who you first sent the money too as it was your money and he should've taken better care of it and done things on your say so. Continue with the dispute.

That's what I'm going to do. And you're probably right because the 2nd guy was so nonchalant with the whole scam.
 
As far as you should be concerned, you should be getting either a blog or your money back, what happens to the seller is non of your concern, it is his problem, his risk, his responsibility.

If he acted as the seller in this transaction it is %10000000 his responsibility, no ifs, buts, or nothing.
 
You deserve half the money, but not the full amount. If he's telling the truth (he might not be), the fact that he got involved at all means he assumed some share of the risk. Besides that, he could be lying, so he can pay you back 1/2 on the chance that he's lying.

On the other hand, you have WAY too much experience to be whining and making a fuss. DUH. You should have seen this coming a mile away. It's not like BHW doesn't have a thread just like this about once per month. All the red flags are there, etc... and you knowingly ignored all the red flags and did it anyways.

So take the full measure of your lumps, and if it hurts bad enough you will never make the same mistake again. It might be a good investment for your future financial security and a cheap price to pay. Pain now may prevent worse pain later.

On another subject, I have a friend that is selling a high-PR tumblr blog for $1,200. Are you interested? He's in another country, and so he cannot take PayPal, but if you would like, you can pay me via PayPal and I'll forward the funds to him. For free. I just do these things because I'm a nice, friendly guy that likes to make friends and do nice things for other people, for free.
 
Whether it's a cover up or not, the first guy you sent the funds to is at fault as he decided to take the role and act as a middle man so out of good faith, he should refund you and shouldn't make you have to pay for his stupidity of sending a wire transfer.

He didn't tell me that it was being sent through bank transfer until after it was sent through Paypal. And I did ask him why he was willing to do it and he said he was getting 10% commission (so he was making $63.50 just for transferring)

If the guy you were dealing with said he would send the money and get the blogs logins for you then he should be the one to blame. Hopefully you made some kind of written agreement with him.

I didn't make a written agreement since it's all digital and only a tumblr blog, but Paypal's giving me my money back. On top of that, he won't even bother responding to the claim on Paypal because he knows he's wrong.
 
Continue with the dispute.
IMO, the middle man responsible with your money. You trusted for pay the web and give you the web. Since he can't give you the web, I considered it as scam.
It's like someone borrow your car, the car got steal because he didn't lock it, then he blame the thief

So who is this fool? So none of us ever have to deal with him.
