Do they have a commission based on the number of affiliates or a fixed monthly salary ?
Or do they have a % of the revenue of each of their affiliates ?

A combination of all three, it depends on the network. Most networks give their reps an incentive to work hard and get their affiliates earning good money.

It's one of the reasons why you can often barely get a reply from a rep unless you're already earning good money with that program - because they only want to put their efforts into the people who are proven earners.

Surf around "Three Pillars Recruiting" (sponsor for Ad:Tech) - They have job listings for the IM space (ie - affiliate managers)

You can see some of the compensation plans there...

So basically they tell you what the other big money earners(your compeitiors on same network) are doing such as traffic landing page and vice versa. Never ending game
