Hello. I want to start a mini factory for the production of red wine.

I want to ask what are the machines like crusher, fermentation and sifter do I need to get to be able to produce red wine.

What are the ingredients?

Where in Africa can I source for grape fruits. I'm in Nigeria. I'm looking at South Africa. Any contact of companies that can supply grapes.

Please, I need every advice I can get.

I need to really wrap my mind around this wine production thing.

Thank you.

It's very difficult to produce good wine if you don't know what you're doing, I'd advise you to look for another project if you're not sure about this.

If you want a mini factory, like you and 1-2 employees any machinery is perfect. Try to get stainless steel barrels, if wood isn't an option. A good wine doesn't need any ingredients, but must companies do add water, sugar, dyes. Red wine isn't really red. All you need to succeed is a very good bottle design. Also a good wine doesn't give you any headaches (this way you can see if any additives are added to it or not).

What are the names of the machines needed?

1. Grape crusher
2. Basket press - make sure is wood!
3. Wood/stainless steel barrels

Also, wash everything after job is done. Floor, machinery, etc.

Ok. What of fermentation and filtering the wine?

I will employ people that will handle the production, but I want to have a general knowledge of winery.

For fermentation you need an wood vat, where you put the crushed grapes, and depending on temperature, in 2-3 days wine should be ready to be moved in a barrel. Filtration is done first with bentonite, that will be added a few days after the wine has sit in the barrel. Then you have to move the wine into another barrel. When you bottle the wine, you have to use a filter, to remove any impurities.

Maybe you have a better option to buy raw wine and bottle it yourself. Making wine is not an easy job, if you plan to sell it to consumers. Let alone you need to age it first. Money won't come overnight in this industry. I know people that have invested lots of money, they had knowledge but no brand. Building a brand is the hardest thing, in wine industry.

can make wine out of many things, not just grapes

Wine can be made also with just water, sugar and dyes.

Great idea. Where can one get this already made wine.

Here's my exact situation.

The red wine we want to make is for Christian churches for Holy Eucharist.

The wine will have only 15% alcohol.

It's for Holy Communion in Christian churches.

We have the market and strategies to build a powerful brand fast.

We only need how to make the wine or buy already made wine and bottle under our name.

Before doing anything, you should look into the legal side of wine production in your country. Wine is an excise good just like cigarette and as such, production and selling is highly regulated usually. Unless you want to make wine for yourself only. :)

Next step: you need a skilled winemaker, who knows the ins and outs of the production. This is not something what you can learn over the internet. With no practice from scratch it's an impossible mission.

The machinery can be found on the net, if you Google it. This is literally the easiest part and depends on the volume you want to produce. There are manual tools and automatic machinery.

China, Spain. Don't expect quallity. South Africa might be a good solution too, since is the only one nearby.

That's quite strong, most wines are 7-11%

OP, it seems that you have a lot to study or lose in this business. Think wise!
