I Want To Monetize Myself.

Ok, so I'm 18 and I make enough money to be happy, but my real passion is fashion. And I am in the process of starting a label but it is a long process and won't happen for a while. What can I do to make money in the mean time through fashion? The only thing I can think of is making a fashion blog?

Any ideas?

if im not mistaken, metacafe allows you to upload a picture or something you created to put on tshirts and you can sell the tshirts without actually buying them , a sell = money to you. could start with something small like that, or go down to beverly hills with a few things you made and show them off to a few of the hot people(fashion designers) down there

You don't need much capital to start a clothing line. You could do everything, including trademark, designs, and supplies for less than $750.

Start an LLC, create designs through that LLC, get the attention of a few fashion designers, and sell licensing to them.

In the meantime, you can slowly build up a reputation, proof of an income stream then you'll have a better chance to get the loans/investments needed to actually produce the clothing under your own brand.

yeah, plan for an LLC first, don't go INC unless you have to. i have to go LLC for my business now, but say if someone sues you or something happens. they can only take your business stuff, but if you go inc by yourself, then they can take everything.

You should watch the HBO Series, "How To Make It In America". They go through the troubles with getting a clothing line and talk to some people that give good advice. If it doesn't help you in any way, it is still a good show.

The show that Shifty situation is suggesting is actually really good for seeing what lies ahead for you. A fashion blog is a really good way to start, but you should be unique about it. If you could get inside information that would be great, but I suggest naming it something like, "How to be a fashion Icon" or "The birth of fashion" Subtext: How I became a fashion legend. Then I would blog about the stuff that you are doing right now. i.e. Getting investors, and all the headaches that come with it.

Don't use Blogger, use Wordpress and really find a good template. Most important use the tips on this page for SEO. I doubt that all of these fashion blogs are doing ANY SEO. So imagine if you could get your blog ranked for the term "fashion"' or "fashion designer" or "fashion industry". Then you could create a page with exclusive designs locked by a CPA offer, or you could run ad$ense on your main page, or perhaps upload footage from a NY Fashion weeks show, or an ebook, and lock it with a CPA offer. That could mean big bucks. You would have no problem generating the content because it would be like a journal of your real life struggle to make it.

Taking this approach could build an audience for you before you release your first piece. The important thing is "Good Content" and try and get it ranked high. Mom's, Fashionista's, Celebrity Gossipers all have loyal readers.

Oh one more thing....create a mailing list. Now you will have a built in market to send mail CPA offers or affiliate links to, that will take you serious.

At the end of the day, when you make it big, you will hire someone else to run the blog, but the bigger you get, the bigger your site will be, until it's a business in itself.
