My goal is to run an SEO agency.
My goal is to run an SEO agency.
help me anyone
you're not ready yet...
A SEO agency... well, a good one anyway, should be up-to-date with everything going on in this industry, but they should also have PERSONAL experience (in terms of BOTH successes and failures) that they can draw data from to back up their services with.
You are asking to learn about SEO, but learning about SEO is easy, I can teach you here for free in one big long post the basics. But the basics are not enough for a SEO agency to be successful as you'll be dealing with customers of all walks of life, budgets, and personalities, and as soon as they see that you're not confident in your services or don't know what you're doing (which will happen eventually) your reputation will go down in a heartbeat...
You need to learn SEO, but at the same time you'll also need to succeed and fail multiple times in multiple niches in order to acquire that sweet, first-hand 10-20% practical experience that's necessary to complement the 80-90% theoretical experience that's needed to become successful as a SEO specialist...
My advice is to keep browsing this forum and participate in discussions, but at the same time - if you have the money - set for yourself the task of setting up and trying to rank 10 sites per month, each site in a different niche, for 1 year...
Normally, this would be an insurmontable task for most people since it requires a lot of investment and seemingly a lot of work too. But the good news is that google have made life easier in one particular aspect recently by penalizing sites that post a lot of content too fast, especially if you use fresh domains. Before this change, most SEO newbies (and particularly the less wealthy ones) could not compete with big players that are using automated systems to churn out 100-200 sites a week with 10k posts per day for 1 year straight on each site, and you or me would not be able to compete with these large scale spammers, so we would stand little chance to outrank them if they performed in the same niches that we choose...
But google penalizing sites that publish too much content on a fresh domain can help you manage your publishing schedule easier,. which can help you churn out 5-10 sites a month for 1 year, so you can test various things out and learn what's working and what not. And this will beat any theoretical rules you read about SEO that tomorrow might become obsolete anyway given how many updates google are making each day to their imbecile algorithm that's geared anyway towards kicking out the honest players and the little guys out of the SERPs to keep only the rich people and companies in there. So, it's best to just throw shit at the wall and notice what sticks and based on these results you will be able to adapt and improve and then - when you do this every day for 1 year you will have gained enough practical knowledge and experience to argue against any so-called SEO that you stumble upon.
And along with these case studies that mold you into a real SEO your confidence will also grow and forming a SEO agency at that point will become both easy and natural as you will have acquired the knowledge of how to rank sites personally, you will have also discovered your strengths and weaknesses as a SEO and these will allow you to know what people to hire / partner up with (as running a SEO agency as 1 man is impossible given the complexity of this industry).
If you try to do these things backwards (learn the SEO theory first, then hire / partner up with other people, then take on clients without knowing what's working and what's not working) you will either fail to satisfy your clients, or you'll hire wrong people because some of them might do things that you're capable of doing better, poorly / wrongly, or whatever...
So, it's best to just set aside $500-1000 per month if you have it, and invest it into setting up 5-10 sites per month like I said, but do it in a fun, stress-free manner so that you don't get burned out.
Choose 5-10 niches (always differently so you can get a taste of which niches are hard to tackle and which are easy) each month, randomly, acquire 5-10 domains (both fresh and expired, this will allow you to see why expired domains are sometimes better), install sites (don't limit yourself to Wordpress, try other CMS / site building platforms too), structure your sites differently, publish a different number of articles on each site (both AI content, manually research and written content, or a mix of both), full optimize, half-optimize, don't optimize the content at all, build good links, bad links, or no links to each site differently, etc...
Like I said, approach this from a fun, child's play perspective, for peach of mind and relaxed, stress-free fun even assume that you won't rank any of these sites no matter what you do. Just go with this assumption in on this for 1 year and see what happens.
Of course, you will need to "waste" a lot of money on this project, but if you're serious about running a SEO agency you're going to spend a lot of money initially anyway, so we assume you already have money to spend upfront and what better way of "wasting" it than while you're killing 2 birds with 1 stone (acquire the much needed practical experience while at the same time building the much needed case studies that you can show your stubborn / hard to convince customers?)
And if you don't have this money to invest into the foundation of your agency well... I guess we're getting to the point I made in the beginning of this post: you are not ready for this yet...
