I think Keyword Planner is Amusing

I know its old news regarding the accuracy of keyword planner and whatnot, but I had to share this:



Of course, I was blown away by it because it seemed too good to be true. BUT I checked it with some other keyword resources and as I thought, other competition metrics indicated it as REALLY high competition.

Thing is, I hear several people swear by the keyword planner. Surely not for competition? Perhaps just for search volume?

Just like you stated. It is mainly used for search volume and long tail keywords.

Competition is analyzed manually for main keywords or through a software such as longtail. I prefer manually to look at top 20 results and analyze them.

If the top 10 consist of high authority domains then I stay away from them. I mostly look for that odd website that is listed at top 10 and copy their link structure and build on it.

Many times I had to double check for accuracy when using keyword planner and that is why I stopped looking at or filtering with competition on the tool.

The competition column is for Adwords competition, not SEO competition.
