Why cant you think that they dont want any secondary sites to indulge to increase there +1s. Which is like a back end to increase there +1s.

Google usually dont encourage such secondary sites. They want to be highly secured.

I guess it is too early to conclude the things unless there are bunch of people saying that it helps in SERP.

For one website I have that is ranked for 2 keywords.
My rank 1 competitor has no google plus +1 at all.
And hes been ranked 1 for a long time

What I've seen with the plus one is that it seems to only affect people that have their search personalized by big G; meaning they must have a google account and be logged in. It is exactly what Bing is trying to do with the FB like and modified search; meaning that if your friend liked something, and you happen to search for the same something, the liked website will be deemed more relevant. I think the +1s will help, but for some of the websites I'm pushing only local clientele; and thus I need find people with lots of local people in their circles to plus 1 my sites.

I plused one of my clients sites, and then when checking his rankings, I noticed he was page 1 for everything; I didnt realize I was logged into my google account. After logging out, and rechecking, the page was showing in the SERPS where it had before hand. This type of result is obvious, but I wanted to share it here nonetheless. It also means that anyone in my circle on g0ogle+ will have similar results; at least that is my conclusion.

My fear is that Google is going to turn their searches into some facebook wannabe social network. Someday people will wake up and realize how much personal information they give these two companies.

So far I have not seen that it affects serps. Like was mentioned it may affect serps for people connected to the account and I think that the new google+ network that is coming out will have this integrated.

They've already said that people in your network will see adwords ads that have been +1'd if you happen to be looking for the same thing.

Of course G +1 affects rankings.

Their new +1 service is just part of their continuing campaign to increase the use of social factors to rank sites.

If you don't have a +1 account now, I recommend you sign up and get on the waiting list.

You are correct that you do need to have a Google public profile to use the +1 feature, but your selections will be displayed publicly on the web as well as privately in your profile.

Agree with above post. I believe +1 are for personalized (individual) search at the moment and do not affect SERPS. I may be wrong though.

Of course it affects serps, the main question is, is it globally or not.
If I have 10k +1, do I increase in serps globally or just for a few people.
I honestly don't think massing up +1 with fake accounts is worth it.
I'm conducting my own research though. Hopefully, I can get to the bottom of how to exploit this system.

I don't think Google +1 is going to affect global searches, only to the individual level. Like most people said on this thread, it's too easy to game +1. I think of it as a shared bookmarking service. Nothing more..

Nobody can be sure right now ! But if it does, its better to start early then catchup later on!

i lost over 4k and people are reporting they are loosing even 100% legit +1s
