I Think A Mod Made A Mistake With A Thread

Today I posted a thread, a guide showing people how to make money. This guide had my affiliate links in it (As I also stated in the post). My thread was just deleted for the Reason:

"Your post in the thread {For All Beginners}: Earn $36-$106 of Cryptocurrency By Watching A Few Videos On Coinbase [Method] was deleted. Reason: 4. AFFILIATE LINKS. Affiliate links are permitted only in the "Affiliate Programs" section of the forum, or in your signature. Affiliate links include links to your websites or blogs which redirect to an affiliate link. If you wish to let people know about a new website or program, create ONE thread in the Affiliate Programs forum and provide detailed information about the program, and include two links: one affiliate link and one non-affiliate link. You MUST give others the choice to sign up through your link."

Of course I already knew about this rule. That's why I posted the thread in the Affiliate Programs section of the forum. My guess is that someone reported it and the mod didn't check which section it was in. If I'm wrong and I did post it in the wrong forum, please correct me but I could have sworn I didn't as I double-checked before posting.

The guide I posted is a guide describing how to earn free crypto by watching videos and then by copying the BB Code I provided, inserting your own affiliate links from the Coinbase Earn affiliate program, and promoting it elsewhere. According to the forum rules (I've read them) and the very warning I received, it is exactly the place to post such a thread.

I edited my post to show a screenshot. It's pretty clear. You can promote affiliate links in your signature and that's it.

The rules are pretty simple to me: don't sell outside the marketplace and don't post affiliate links. It's not a hard thing to do.

Every other place on the forum describes that section as the place to discuss an affiliate program and how to take advantage of said program. I wrote a guide for that. Why then does it say everywhere that the Affiliate Programs section is the place where I can mention my affiliate links? That, coupled with the fact that it's a guide for an affiliate program, leads me to believe I did the right thing.

That's not a forum rule. The forum rule says no posting affiliate links except in the Affiliate Programs section and in forum sigs...

Reading the section thoroughly and looks like you're not wrong. Rules seem to inconsistent in certain places. Did you give TWO links every time? One affiliate and one non-affiliate? If so maybe you have a case.

I gave both but not side-by-side like you're saying. Most (Maybe half) the links in the guide were not affiliate links. Even if they were all affiliate links though, I believe I should have been fine posting them in that affiliate program guide. Regardless, I certainly didn't spam them. Anyway, thanks but I'm not trying to have a debate with everyone about it. Just wanting one mod to clarify regarding my specific thread.

Did you provide details about Coinbase ? How it works, how to sign up, what kind of KYC procedure that Will be needed etc, or just talk about that earn by watching video ?

In my opinion, you want to promote your Coinbase affiliate link, so according to rules you need to create a detail information about Coinbase not just the earn by watching video. You can talk about earn by watching video as additional content in Coinbase detail information. This is a little bit different than other affiliate program such as url shortener, advertisement company etc where main use of that program is how to get money, but Coinbase main use is not how to get money but as a Bitcoin wallet and exchange.


And of course you must give 2 link, 1 affiliate link, 1 non-affiliate link.

The paragraph you quoted explains you can tell people about the affiliate program and are permitted to provide an affiliate link only if you provide two links. I think if that is the issue, a good forum suggestion would be to front-load mods with a better canned response for the delete reason. If it was the reason, the stated reason was incorrect. The stated reason is mistaken regardless of anything.

You did not provide an alternate, non-affiliate link, and that is why your thread was removed.
