I spent $2,000 in Backlinks: DR still zero?

Nobody is saying its wasted. Its just that it is too early to spend this amount on backlink building within 45 days of blog creation.
You also did not tell how many articles do you have in your website and what is the word count?
How much traffic you are getting currently as on today?

If you not buying backlinks from this forum then why are you asking for suggestions and solutions for your questions? Not all BHW sellers are selling spammy websites. In fact, you can select the website(Blogs) on which you are interested to get links on.

As others have said, 45 days is too little time to notice any results, although last year I had a site that got boosted 1 week after the backlinks have been indexed. But notice that I said INDEXED, not BUILT, which brings me to these important points that only a couple of people touched upon:
1. are you sure that the links are indexed?? Because if they're not indexed by google you won't see any results, now or in 1000 years. So, go ahead and manually check each backlink into google to see if it's there or not. Or, if you have 100s of links you need to check, use a software like Scrapebox to keep track of your SEO efforts, the software - despite of having a huge learning curve - is a Godsend for serious SEOs
2. are you sure that the links you've purchased are D0F0LL0W? Because, many newbies (myself included in the past) oftentimes omit to ask the sellers if the links they're purchasing are d-ofol0lw or nofollow, and this makes a huge difference because if the links are prepended with the 'nofollow' tag they're useless. You won't see any link juice / authority / DR / DA / whatever from those links, EVER!
3. are the links still live? Believe it or not, many (scumbag, obviously) sellers remove the links after 1-6 months after you've paid them, so it's possible that the links (or some of them) have simply been deleted from their source, which is obviously bad for you and your site as google will never see those links if they've not discovered them yet. And google not seeing your links = google not indexing your links = google not caring about ranking your site... generally speaking. And this is where a software like Scrapebox really comes in handy again, because it keeps tracks of all of your backlinks and can check their indexation, dof-ollow / nofollow status, live / dead / broken status, and so much more.
4. if all 3 checkboxes above have been ticked then, seriously, give it some time because many links (especially the weaker ones) take months to index nowadays. Of course, you can speed up the process by either asking the seller of those links to index them for you (for free or for money, depending on your purchased package and / or negotiation skills), or - if the links are guest posts / niche edits on high quality websites - ask the owners / editors of those websites if they're Ok with you blasting your guest posts / niche edits with 1000s of shitty links so you can index your main links... or if they're ok with you using an indexing service on your guest posts / niche edits. Some owners are fine with this, others not so much.
And again, wait! For how long, I couldn't say.... but probably 4-6 weeks after you've built the links AND submitted them to indexers. And if after 6 weeks your links are still not indexed in google then it's time to panic and go hardcore

always drip feed if the site is new! ALWAYS!
The website I mentioned has been blasted with 1000s of links initially (I think 2 months after I've built it, but I don't remember), and that blast has not ranked it anywhere, so I got pissed off and stopped working on it until last year. And then, about one year later (which means last year, around May-June), it had started popping up into google out of the blue sky (it's probably been affected by one of google's updates, but I don't know for sure), so I thought I should build more links to it, so I built like 12-13 backlinks in total (manually from sites found here on BHW for free) over the course of 1 month and then I stopped building links, but kept checking when the links get indexed because I knew that only indexed links matter, that's why I only kept track of their indexing.
I don't remember all of the details as I never cared about that site in particular (it was more like a fun test for me), but I do remember that, of those 12-13 links that I've built only some of them got indexed, not all of them. I remember that the first 2 links that I've built have been from telegra.ph and gumroad (pretty good links last year, I don't know how good they still are today, though)... so these 2 backlinks have indexed within a few days and without me doing anything special, but they didn't increase the rankings. And then, after these 2 links got indexed I built several more from some sites that I found here on BHW like I said, but those links have not indexed, I don't know why. And then, 3-4 weeks later I've built few more links (for a total of 12 or 13 backlinks like I said), and that 3rd batch of links that I've built got indexed in a few days, as well, and then, about 1 week later (give or take 1-2 more days) I noticed an increase in impressions in my GSC and checked the reports and I noticed that a few (long tail) keywords have moved up the SERPs (from pages 5-6 to page 3)
I think from your case study and my test using parasite amazon that consistent link building within period of time matter than blasting . the main concept for amazon consistent sales help rank better than spike sales then nothing .

OP, why do you care about DR? It has nothing to with your website authority on Google.
When buying backlinks, I rarely look at DR or DA, I only look at the site monthly traffic and number of post on Google SEPs.
With the budget that you have, you should keep investing on high-quality backlinks from site like theverge, entrepreneur, forbes etc.
I would also be investing heavily on contents and keyword research.
If I were you, I would buy a good metrics expired domain.
The finance niche is hard but with the right content strategy and keyword research combined with high quality backlinks, it is possible to start ranking a finance blog too.
Purchased an expired domain for over $3K. I manage to hit the above stats in the first month itself and it is in the Finance niche too. Post gets indexed by Google in less than 30 mins. This is the power of expired domain with good metrics. And I don't even care about the 9 DR. Lol

I am not criticizing you but I belong to a school of thought, that would rather focus on content than backlinking especially when you are new. You were better off spending that $2k on content.
Since, you have a new site, with or without backlinking, you would need time, and that still is the case I believe, just keep working on your content, and even perhaps building links, you should start to see the results within a few months.
That is what happened with my new website. I did not start building links till I had 100 articles, and when I started building links, it had already been 3.5 months, so I was just about to be out of the sandbox, so the site few fast. well, it still is growing fast now. but I am not building links, and my dr is only 4.5 but its doing fine, mainly due to the content.
Finance is also such a niche where content matters the most. so, my advice, focus on the content, and, promote only on reddit, quora or places like this, only after 1 year, you could start thinking of buying lbacklinks

Have you checked your keyword rank position? any improvement after this? DR is not only the main factor.. Ranking and traffic depends upon many factors. Also 45 days are not that much time. just wait for few for months and do quality backlinks regularly to your site.
And there are many quality services here. don't think like all the services are spammy. You just ask the samples or sites to check before going to get backlinks from it.

they do. have you examined their lists? they are 99% trash.
And you can get the same guest posts by contacting directing those websites for half the price.
So i contact directly blog owners after extensive research, websites that usually don't accept guest posts. I offered them money and they accept without too much fuss.

I dealt with many members it depends how you choose. If they sell shitty or spammy don't buy a link from them... You can find the quality everywhere and spammy as well.
And about pricing we can't judge because they spent time, responsibility, and hard work. After all this they charge the price which help them to live their life.
