My goal is to expand my team and looks for more leads and work .

But the question is how are Web development companies makes thousands of dollars clients ????

Are they cooperating with IT marketers to look for leads ???

I think there can help whitehat content marketing, funel, workshops etc. In my country, there is a online marketing company, wich had 20+ powerful ebooks About online marketing, 100+ Videos and so much blogpost. It is very good source of information - they build HUUUUGE brand + catch emails of potentional customers. I think this is way to get huge scale of online service business. But you can start right now with simple method What i used years ago when i earning money for building websites :

1. Find catalog of companies ( plumbers, accounting, health or some niche, where you want build websites.
2. Check every website, and if you find some web, wich you can redesign, make new functions etc. - contact them with email or phone abou your offer
3. I offer Free mock-up or preview, and if they like it, they order my services. Provide some discounts, or just few bucks ( earn reffer).
4. Build your portfolio with this review’s, and start ppc campaigns for related kws ( company website, new web design... )

Referrals. Occasionally you take on a cheap project and you would be surprised how many well paying clients can come through it. Don't turn down opportunities just because they don't pay as much as you hope especially when you need projects. One important thing to remember that most web dev start ups/freelancers don't focus on from the get go is recurring revenue. Start coming up with ideas for recurring revenue with whatever clients you get.

Another thing, devote some time into building a separate product/service. Whether its themeforest for WordPress themes, php scripts on codecanyon or graphic assets on creative market. Entry into the web development market is very easy, building a business that will still be running after a few years is extremely difficult.
