better to use backorders and spend 3.5x more (35 bucks a domain) or using tools to find deleted domains and register those 3 times more ?

pound for pound and with 1000 dollars in your hands, what would you do ? split them maybe ? aren't the deleted domains a bit the leftovers from the backordering ?

two options:

1) hunt for deleted domains
2) use brokerage services like snapnames or namejet or nidoma who charge 3.5x more but get the domains as soon as they fall off.

what would you choose ?

If you really need a specific domain then go ahead and try to backorder it, but otherwise go with a mix of whatever is ready at the time you want it. There are so many millions of available domains that there is no way backordering is going to gobble up all the winners.

I did some backordering last year waiting for some domains to come off the auctions. I was looking for really specific metrics though, so I mean, if you're in the same situation then that's your best bet. It really depends. If I were you though, I'd hunt them down myself. I've always found that doing work yourself is the best way to get it done.

if you buy a package of 2000 dollars from godaddy you can get the backordered domains at 20 bucks each, which is only 2 times more than the normal domain. but then with the backordering, how do you manage the fake accounts ?? they will be set up under your profile info i guess ? and if you ordered 20 you would be screwed with the whois footprint !

what's your take on this guys ?
