actually, I do use wordprss alot..
They are easy to set up, timeless and aslong as you ain't spastic with plugins, you can make it pretty damn fast too.

Complexity does not have to mean greatness.
Simple things can actually be really good too...
Also, considering if you make two different sites with near-identical features and security functions
if your shit is so complex that it's bothersome to update, upgrade or maintain whether it's by you or someone else...
Is it really worth the trouble when you can do something simple yet still maintain all the features and shit?
Your only worth is you wasted time + bragging rights that you ain't using a "Simple solution" really...

agreed, this makes sense. The best is always the simplest according to what you need and stop messing around with unconverting shit that you or someone else is finding "nice", CRO is the most important I think.

You are far from the truth, CMS like WordPress gave you the freedom to have YOUR OWN CONTENT if you are a journalist or selling things or even A COPYRIGHTED GAME (for example). webflow, Shopify would close your store, website false or true takedown notice. on the other hand WordPress is just a script you can host it even on the moon and no one would close or even try to take down your website. but if you don't know how to manage it, maintain/secure a script like WordPress. Search for someone who can. but do not kill a script that so far helped people build their brand.

I accessed WordPress for the first time today after about three years, all I can say is thank god for the classic editor plugin.

Someone once told me the first thing you think about is the best. This made me question them. That's unrelated but just popped up in my head yesterday and I thought "what the hell". The best is not always the simplest. If it was so, we would use only HTML (not even 5) and CSS (not even 3).
Sometimes candy is good for CRO. For example, you can appeal visually to people like gamers, cinematography enthusiasts and graphic designers. Still, you need to make it seem like a part of that website and not something like a big pretty girl that seeks attention like 5th grade lonely kid. It needs to blend.
Some shit like infographics can be good for some parts of your blog. Absolutely that doesn't mean you should overwhelm users with graphics - I myself just stop reading and appreciate graphics (probably happens to more people).

Because you don't understand what is Gutenberg yet. I was like you a few months ago. Then, I tested LazyBlocks, a small free plugin, and... WOW!
Since this day, I am in LOVE with Gutenberg.
