I promote Amazon Items: no sales, need help

I'm selling Amazon stuff in the mold of the xfactor layout. My domain is my keyword. I rank for that keyword. Your keyword is your product on Amazon. If they find you via your keyword on Google, then you know they're looking for what your selling. I'm doing 5% sales on all clicks. I do about the same with adsense on the same site.

What's fun is looking at all the other crap people buy when you send 'em over to Amazon with your cookie. (and you get paid for it)

Yeah, I follow the same approach. The XFactor sites are more suited to Amazon than AdSense. The exception is with high ticket items that have a good CPC. There is nothing wrong with combining both methods. If your sales pitch doesn't catch them then they might be hooked with one of the AdSense advertisers.
 
Might be going about it the wrong way. I'd pick a few key products and make sales pages for them. You could probably even post them on the same page. This way you're promoting a micro-niche instead. Much easier.
 
If your sign up for Amazon.com you only gonna get credited for sales by US people, Amazon.ca = Canadians and so on...


IF your site gets visitors from all over the world, you gonna se clicks but no sales.

Also think about that their cookie lifetime only lasts 1 day.

Sign up to several Amazon country programs (keep checking your analytics, and if enough people are coming from that country, add it into the mix) and use javascript to send them to the right Amazon site, with your affiliate link.

I dont promote Amazon anymore, if i did i would put up a geotargeting script and show some other ads for the rest of the visitors.

Yeah, search engine traffic is the best way to go. Get a domain that has a targeted keyword like "green window blinds". The more specific the keyword, the better the conversion. It might not have a lot of searches... (15-30/day) but these people convert like crazy cause they know EXACTLY what they're looking for. All ya gotta do is give it to them. :)
 
I got 1 site promote amazon gadgets. It has 5 - 6K of amazon clicks and only make around 10 - 15 sales. Conversion less than 1%.
